Metallica Fought to get Slayer Included in Their Game
23
Kombo writes, "As you can only imagine, Metallica had an uphill battle to get their game approved due to some of the lyrics and content within their songs. Though Metallica are no saints, they actually had a more difficult time trying to get Slayer approved to appear in the game. So what was the big snag? Hit the jump to find out..."

Would be sweet to play Mandatory suicide in GH.
I'd love to see some more real metal in there as well. Enough with this christian fashion metal bs. Can't stand nu-metal bands with their boyband emo choruses and overproduced songs. Give us some Carpathian Forest, Necrophagia and Bloodbath!

The weird thing is that Slayer was in Guitar Hero 3 so I don't see why there should be any hesitation to put them in there again.

You don't seem to get it.Metallica was already making money so instead of keeping their credit and becoming one of the best metal bands in the 90's they decide to give in to the mainstream audience. They tone down their music now so it can get on the radio instead of keeping it with an epic sound. So by toning their music down for the moms and pops and to get on the radio they are betraying they're fans.Thee music isn't what it used to be.Listen to master of puppets and the listen to some of their new stuff and you will see what im talking about.

I'm not sure where you live but here their songs were always on the radio. Didn't matter if it was Master of puppets or Ride the lighting. Sorry but music changes as the bands get older. Also i hate the term sellout when it comes to music. If i was in a band i would be looking to make as much as i can from my songs. It's not like they are selling out like rappers who drop product names left right and centre.

MTV ring any bells?Once you start seeing one of your favorite bands there you know it's over.Megadeth looked like it almost took that route. They started to sound poppy but thankfully they didn't and moved away from that.If I was in a band I would try to keep the classic sound while still inovating and making money. If I was making music it wouldn't be all about the money, sure some of it would be but I don't want to see crap like dragonfore or disturbed take over.I don't want metal to turn like how pop is.Pop is all about the money and the spotlight. They don't care about making quality music and innovating.I guess you and me just have very different opinions about music.

MTV was a source of exposer. Which leads to making money. Without those sources you'd be a low end - broke band. I still find it funny how upset people get just because they wanted more exposer. Did this insult you? Did you have money tied into the band? Did you work on their albums? No so stop crying. Also Megadeath wasn't on MTV cause frankly they are hacks. MD songs belong in a basement with nerds playing D&D. Thats why the best MD could hope for was to be an afterthought and drop Metallica's name just to get press.

Why would it?I'm just explaining to you about what real metal is about.Megadeth is just an example I gave you, they are not something I usually listen to.If your trying to isnult me your going to have to do a better job than that.here is another example. The band iron maiden started in 1975 and started the wave of NWOBHM and at the same time punk was very popular.3 years after iron maiden started their band they were approached by people in the music industry and they asked iron maiden to dress likes punks do and tone down their music and give it a punk feel and in exchange they would get attention from the media but iron maiden refused. They care about music and didn't do it for the money and guess what? They are swimming in money now and are the leaders of heavy metal.Would you look at that, they didn't betray their fans and at the same time make a sh1tload of money.

"Some would give Metallica crap for selling out and making a video game"
I think more people would give them crap for not releasing a good album in almost two decades.
