Cool. I hope people give it a second try when 1.30 comes out. I play it and have a blast. Its so fun. People that say its bad make no sense. They are probably fans of Socom 3 (one of the worst games ever) or have never played Socom.

This game really brings that addiction back. We just need more maps.

Socom 3 was excellent and is far better then Socom: Confrontation. But by far Socom 2 was the best.

Saying that Socom:Confrontation is better then Socom 3 is like saying Socom: Tactical Strike is better then Socom: Fire Team Bravo 1+2.

The update 1.3 isn't coming out until possibly the 2nd week of January.......what a joke. What doesn't make sense is why people keep defending this crappy game and why they keep defending Slant Six is beyond me.

Don't say its a great game because its got a Socom logo on it.

You underestimate the Socom fanbase.

1) Socom fans HATE FPS games for the most part.
2) Socom fans HATE respawn games.
3) Socom fans hate nooby games. Killzone 2 will be awesome, but it will be easy for new people to play. Socom is not that way.

I am generalizing this of course, but I am talking from experience.

As Panthers said, SOCOMers play SOCOM and nothing else. However many play it today, that's how many will be playing it 6 months from now because to them nothing is better even if it clearly is. If PSN released a most played list like XBL does, SOCOM would easily be top three until the end of time even if the games are horrible because those people dont move on to other franchises, they either quit or keep suffering through it. Why? Two reasons, SOCOMers play SOCOM only and friends/clan. Most suffer through it because the rest of their clan are on and suffer through it with them and it just becomes a social experience with gameplay thrown on.

I wouldn't really call playing Socom suffering. It's extremely fun and definitely worth the money. Yeah a better game will come along but that doesn't mean we have to start suffering. It'd be the same fun as it always had been. I get what you're saying though.. only if they become horrible, but they won't. And hell, Slant Six obviously listens to the fan base and makes the better, unlike say.. Epic, who just ignores there's a problem to begin with.

you just described my exact response / feelings when I hear about Gears of War 2 updates. I get frustrated really fast when a game is released with so many problems.

Socom is running a lot better now than it did before. You should actually try the updates before giving up on it. I am holding out hope G2 will eventually be fixed as well but considering Epics track record I am not overly optimistic.

Then again most shooters will be over looked and possibly put on the back burner permanently once Killzone 2 is released. If it lives up to expectations and doesn't have too many issues online. Hopefully GG won't have the sell it now patch later mentality that so many other devs do this generation.

The first game i ever owned was Socom 1, I loved that game like you wouldn't want to know. Unfortunatly i havn't got a job(i'm only 15) and i spent all my pennies on gifts this Christmas. Maybe in the new year, i can add this game to my small collection.

There's hardly any more bugs in this game. 1.30 will fix the major issues with the game and add in some new features that really make the game more fun and smoother. I highly recommend it, not just for the sweet headset.

I bought it just for the headset. I figured for an extra $10 to get the game was a no-brainer. (in fact EB/ Gamestop was offering $13 which would have saved you a few bucks on the headset). I ended up playing the game obviously and its very good not to mention a steal at $10.

Are you kidding me! Hardly any bugs, what a joke. There are so many bugs in this game it's pathetic. The stupid hand above or in your gun glitch. The inability to reload when you touch anything. The stupid heart attach glitch. Killing someone and 5-10 seconds later you die by that person who is dead. The constant throwing grenades glitch. Random grenade killing radius (I've been on top of one and haven't died, and have been 10-15 ft away from another and it kills me). I could go on.

Never have I ever played the retail where most of the problems were not fixed from the beta.

But socom is my favorite series, and it is unplayable for me in its current state. I wanted this game to be the best one yet but I am very disappointed. I can't even join a game from the friends list in game? That feature was in all the other socoms. Hit detection sucks, and everyone thats new to the series just gets a rpg every round cause they can't get a kill any other way. There was a beta for this game and it doesn't show.
