Bioshock 2 possibly a timed exclusive?

PCN writes:

Take Two has just announced it's software line up for the rest of the 2009 fiscal year, ending October 31, 2009. Among the titles listed lies Bioshock 2, sequel to the 2007 blockbuster hit. An interesting side note, however, is that the platform its listed for is to be announced, making it the only game Take Two has listed without a confirmed platform. Is it possible that Bioshock 2 could once again be a timed exclusive for either platform?

It won't be a timed exclusive. I know this for sure seeing how (I forget his name but he works at 2K) said BioShock 2 was destined to be a multi-platform game for PS3, 360 and PC. If it somehow ends up being a timed exclusive for 360 then Microsoft paid for this to make it happen. Just like they paid for The Last Remnant, the first BioShock, etc.

True...

But I doubt it will be a timed exclusive ...can't see it happenning this time around.

Since the game has been in developing for all platforms plus Take Two is looking to maximize there profits off the game on all consoles , releasing on 1 console 1st then the other will obviously affect sales of the latter which they dont want..

uh that means nothing dude... just because they put Bioshock 2 trailer on the PS3 doesnt mean its a PS3 exculsive or timed exculsive. They had more time to add more things into the PS3 version. If i was a developer i would have done the samething with my game if i knew that a sequel was coming. Think it was way to early to tell if a sequel is coming with they launched Xbox360 version. Now i see it as its definately will be on the PS3 thats it.

Take 2 just announced that the PS3 is the biggest revenue generator this generation, and so it will be a timed exclusive for the PS3. They probably kept working with their PS3 dev team right on through the release of Bioshock on the PS3.

I would love to see Sony come out with a Bioshock 2 PS3 bundle.

To clear things up when i said the Bioshock 2 trailer was on the PS3 i meant that i doubt it will be timed exclusive to any platform. They wouldnt put a teaser on the disc if PS3 had to wait like a year longer. It will be multi platform at realese.

Lol was BioShock supposed to do well on the PS3? It was a port of a short, year old game. Not to mention the game was released around the same time as Dead Space, LittleBigPlanet, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Motorstorm 2, etc. This is why you don't do timed exclusives. People WILL lose interest.

You are absolutely right about timed exclusives. They typically don't do well. Unreal Tournament III did not sell that great on the 360. Take Two needs to make this a multiplatform release if they want to make major bank.

Got to agree with you there but the guys at SE stated that there is no SO4 in the works on the PS3 but that can always change.. On Bioshock 2 being timed I dont know about that because the new issue of OPSM has the GAMES of 2009 issue and bioshock 2 is in there for the PS3.

They have 2 Xbox 360 exclusive and no exclusive PS3 games or add-ons. So if they were hinting at a timed exclusive you would most likely be right.

and BTW, Sony has paid for exclusive titles just as MS has in the past. It just sucks more for Sony this time. MS had a head start on this gen and they are at the profitable point faster so they can afford to pay for exclusive.

in a sense that the existence of a sequel was made known on PS3. I'd be disappointed if it goes exclusive to 360 (as a timed exclusive) but than again what's new? Anyways, I sure hope the sequel is just as good as the first if not better.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that we will see anymore 3rd Party Exclusives from dev. anymore this gen; especially when you consider Sony's production company is producing the Bioshock film which is being directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Carribean movies)

Gore Verbinski also made the Ring films, and the WeatherMan for Sony. Sony helped establish him as a director.

LOL of course BioShock 2 isn't a console exclusive to the coffee table anymore.After Take Two saw that BioShock was superior on the ps3,they knew it was ment to be on the ps3,and not on the sh1tbox.How does it feel Xbots? You can have crappy a*s FFXIII and Tekken 6,we'll be getting the superior versions of the games on ps3 anyway,and we'll also be enjoying BioShock 2 on the ps3!!

BTW if you Xbots still don't believe BioShock 2 is coming out for the ps3,right after you complete BioShock on the ps3,a trailer for BioShock 2 comes out.

Nobody said it's not coming to the PS3 eventually. The PS3 version was far from the superior version with those jaggies, that patched helped.

You can also download the Bioshock 2 teaser off of the XBL Marketplace.

The patch helped a lot I think it would've been the definitive version of Bioshock if the DLC was included in the original game. With that taken out both versions are equal, PC best graphics and gameplay is the same across the board obviously, it comes down to controller preference on consoles. Since they released the teaser trailer for both 360/PS3 within a close proximity of one another, I see this game definitely being a simultaneous release.

PS3 has a lousy processor, ROFL.

360 Has 3 cores - all used in GOW2 -FACT. and it still slows down.

PS3 Has 1 core/ 6 Spu's(fastest number crunchers there are)useable for nearly everything a Normal core does, only it does it in smaller chunks.

When you look at uncharted, 3500 animations, or Killzone2, You goto think to yourself, why didn't god give me a brain.

You'd think it would have sold more on 360, 2.2million, is not bad. But no online killed it.

Then you got piss poor sales on PS3, for a port and not to mention it cost twice as much on PS3.

Dev should have released it on PS3 for £15.00 It's an old game.

they will look how many copies resist the flop 2 and my planet flopped sold. they will think, well it costs a lot more to develope for ps3 than pc or xbox,and the sales side of things for games dont really help either. and the attachment rate. xbox is still breaking records every day with that. so making it exclucive is impossible. u droids make me laugh

If bs1 had multiplayer(and it seemed like it would really work with that type of game) it would have sold alot more.
