Dead Space Developers Announce New Project

An abducted soul, a lifetime of sins, a journey to the depths of despair. Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that EA Redwood Shores, the studio behind hit horror game Dead Space, is making Dante's Inferno – a Third-Person Action/Adventure adaptation of the medieval epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.

haha, thats funny. I wasnt really interested in it based on the VGA trailer. But now that i know the same guys who made deadspace are making it, i'm now interested. Hopefully they can turn out another gem.

Has anyone actually read the poem? If you have, you'll know that most moden perceptions of things such as hell are based on it, and a lot of modern films have already retold it's story...

in the trailer my first conclusion was that the models look a bit cranky, but now i know the people from dead space are making it i got nothing to worry about, this game will rock :)

Dead Space was fantastic and I am sure that they will do an amazing job with Dante's Inferno. It's funny, but when I saw the trailer and saw that EA was making it, I actually thought to myself "this seems like something EA Redwood Shores would do, I wonder if it is them making it". Great news. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

I'm pretty sure EA will put out a sequel to Dead Space, but it's also very refreshing to see EA starting to branch off into some new IP's...

I personally liked Dead Space a lot. My first (and currently only) platinum PSN trophy was for Dead Space! ;-)

EA Redwood Shores has definitely gained my admiration, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Not impressed by that trailer last night...terrible way to "try" and create a playable piece of entertainment to the "Divine Comedy". This will not be the epic the story entails...hope they can change my mind, but that trailer didn't cut it for me.

i know this sounds funny, cos i am a very big Dead space fan ( read my other posts its my game of the year ) but i am happy.

At least it means that they wont rush Dead space 2... hopefully !

who knows, maybe the next dead space will be out when the new systems are out. I can't wait for it, but i can wait for it.. if you know what i mean.

in the mean time i will keep my eye on what they are doing. they have restored my faith in EA ( a little ) and in quality games ( no bugs, no day one patch ! )

It'll be interesting to see how the team brings the allegory to life since when the epic poem is read, people draw different conclusions from the author's hidden meanings. I also look forward to their artwork for the 1300's. I think that they can pull it off but it is a massive undertaking to bring such a classic work to gamers.
