I understand that this is not the release of Home, but it does suck that it's not working quite yet. I was hoping for a little more in the open beta, but like I said it's still just a beta.

Guys Mart DOES have a PS3. I have every reason to believe him. As far as I know, he bought it for LBP. He's probably just dissatisfied with Sony for their botched Home release. Well Mart, don't worry, just ignore Home and pretend it never existed. There are great games available for the system. Home having problems is not a negative for the system, because up until today we didn't even _have_ Home.

Sony has overpromised and underdelivered with Home. FACT. If you disagree with that, show me where the trophy rooms, video and music sharing, and a wealth of other promised features are in Home and I will eat my hat.

Of course this is going to happen, it happens during the launch of any high profile event. Online games have problems every time they come out until it's patched. And this is worst because there are at least 8 - 9 million people trying to login to home at one time, so of course there's going to be some delay no matter how much Sony planned for this. This is like Black Friday millions of people scrambling for a few hundred thousand items nation wide = problems.

Can anyone name a major online related release that DID go well for PSN?

This is the only reason to come to N4G anymore! Everytime something screws up on either side you can come here and see the brand worshiping apologists squirm.

After R6V2, TF2, COD4, MGS4, GTAIV and SOCOM all having broken online functionality on launch day who would ever assume Home wouldn't shat the bed at every stage? I mean seriously. The hardcore brand sodomists will say free, patience, xbl failed that one time, say whatever you want at the end of the day the reason this is a big deal is that its now EXPECTED.

You fruits on this site can call me biased for 360 all you want. I'll admit PSN does a couple things better like better original downloadable games and being free. Other than that PSN sucks hard. Weak in game text chat, slow downloads, online broken at launch, 3 of 10 people with mics etc.

Just as the 360 has the crappy hardware stank on it so does the PS3 for crap online functionality.

This is expected.

Like this want expected, well at least from me. Us PS3 owners have been waiting for this for years now, and now that Home is available to almost everybody, most of the PS3 owners are downloading Home and with the amount of downloaders downloading Home today, of course there is going to be technical difficulties. MS too have the same problem with their Xbox Live time to time.

Home director Jack Buser is excited. "I am so very happy to announce that PlayStation Home has now officially entered into Open Beta. Restart your PlayStation 3, and you will see the PlayStation Home icon under the PlayStation Network column of the XMB. Click on the icon, and you are in."

When a Sony rep. says something like that you would expect them to have there stuff in order. Click on the icon for an error message and use the excuse that it's a beta.

Patience since they promised Home to release Fall 2007? It's well over a year later and still its broken? NICE.

N4G is free, but it works... Hotmail is free but it works... AVG is free but it works... Many other stuff is free but normally if things would be as bad as Home people would burn it to the ground. Why are you all still defending this? Sony just doesn't deliver period.

You must be having internet connection issues because in my experience XBL almost only goes down for planned and announce maintenance periods. The only time I can remember recently they had problems was after christmas last year. I believe that time is very similiar the probs Home is having. Too many log-ons at the same time.

Eh, this happens with many major releases. Nothing will ever go perfectly and the issues will (should) be sorted out in due time. I don't see why everyone is yelling about how Home is a failure because of some technical problems during launch.

Just have something that is starting to disappear now days - patience.

I got into home on my USA account and theres a few changes here and there but theres still very little on there. You aint missing much at the moment. My UK account fails to login into home still though.

Bingo!!!! It's hard for some to take their own medicine.

I even have a comment in the NXE problem posts that were overrun with $ony people telling me how much the Xbox 360 sucks. I said: "Home better launch without a hitch or it will be payback".

Here we are! Except I don't feel like giving it too much sh*t, it's free, an open beta and I will just sit her with a smile knowing despite what many think none of these companies are perfect. I'm sure in a day or two Home's growing pains will be behind it. People on all sides are too quick to call things a failure before it has a chance to get worked out.

14 - Home seems to be running fine now.
The Uncharted space is very nice. The locked doors lead to more spaces, the codes to the two doors upstairs are; Right door= 24312 and Left door= 41675, I could not get to the downstairs door the bar was packed. There are also some new arcade games in the bar, nothing better than free mini games.

I would still be on but my wife came home from work early today, so I am going to have to wait until later tonight to check the rest of the new areas out.

What is their problem. What have they been doing. I read that they've redesigned the Home square. Yet again. Why don't they spend their time
-Adding promised features
-Adding actual stuff to do
-Fixing their servers and network code
Rather than redesigning everything so that it looks pretty? I'm sure nobody really cares how pretty it looks; if there's nothing to do there and it disconnects you half the time why is anybody going to use it? They've just barely got away with their claim that it would release this year. I'm glad to see it out the door just so that they can actually get off their arses and add stuff to it now.

On a more positive note I'm sure most of these problems are on their end rather than in the Home client itself - it happens with any online game a few days after release and Home won't be any different. If these problems go away I'll retract hmm..... 45% of what I said.

They added a ton of stuff to do today. New UFO game in the new central plaza the Uncharted space has new arcade games, the radio in central plaza got updated, that was just the stuff I found in my 30 min. tour. And it is still all free. I am personally looking forward the Red Bull plane racing.

I have been online, in Home, with 4 of my friends all night.

It took a while to get into Home at first but once we were all in, it was smooth as butter.

I would go somewhere and I could either send an invite or they could "Go To" where I was and there were no problems at all!

Edit:
There was one problem.
The problem we had was that the mics would have a problem but I would expect that to be fixed soon.
