Capcom planning console-specific bonuses for Resident Evil 5

Following up on last week's announcement of a Resident Evil 5 limited edition package for Japan, Capcom shared details today on console-specific bonuses for the game. PS3 owners will get a special making-of video segment. Xbox 360 owners will get a Deluxe Edition which includes a soundtrack CD and ships in a special metal case.

you can always download the soundtrack. We already know that its being integrated with Home BTW+trophies. so thats a big plus. This game is going to sell, not just because its a sequel to a already respected franchise (which was given birth on the PS1) but because of the games that are releasing during that time, SFIV and KZ2.

Does anyone know if it's going to be split screen or online only for multiplayer?

If split screen, is it for the 360 or the PS3?

I'm not sure which version to buy. Also, im not sure if people should get the PC version, which will probably come out later, since we all remember how messed up their porting looks.

it hasn't been confirmed yet I think. If anything, Sony Better bring in Multiple sign-in Support for the PS3/PSN if they want to trump XBL.

LBP already does that. It's up to the developer if they want to implement that feature.

1.5 - It will most likely have a Split-Screen, Since I saw it running in one of the Videos.
Split-screen will most likely be for both. I don't see Why Not?
Trophies are there too.

1.6 - "PS3 owners can look forward to a special making-of video segment which Capcom says was produced by "Hollywood staff." "
Lol, they weren't able to fit the videos on DVD but they did on Blu-ray.
Sorry just had to say that but it looks that way.

They had to give soundtrack CD out on xbox, because they don't have space on DVD . It looks like a way of making it fair, because if they use Blu-ray to max, and give extra content, then it would make people pissed.

So What would make the other people piss at them at the same time u ask?
Well, give other people soundtracks instead.

lol.

Well you have to give capcom credit here. The ps3 DID get something. Just the 360 gets the soundtrack. How about this. Both systems get BOTH!? Or is that just too easy?

I'm probably not going to pick this one up. Sure it will turn out to be a great game but RE series is less on horror and more on action now which kinda blows for me. So no Re 5 for me.

Is that the Japan release date or did they move the North America release date up from March 13? This makes a huge difference for me, because my birthday is on the 11th...

I don't really care about either the video or soundtrack. They could have included them in both versions, but like someone previously said, they are hoping for people to buy both versions. I will probably get the Xbox 360 version for the metal case.

I think RE5 will have an install.
If capcom were making just a PS3 version then the game could utilise procedural textures like Killzone 2.
But because the game is multiplatform Capcom won't want to increase their work by making procedural textures for the PS3 and compressed textures for the 360. They're working to a budget.

They'll just stick in compressed textures for both - which the PS3 can handle, but which works out much better for the 360. That way the 360 can stream them off the disc, but the PS3 will have to have an install because the 2 x blu ray isn't as fast as the 12x DVD.

You'll only get absolute top notch graphics from PS3 exclusives.
360 can't handle procedural textures and the DVD drive doesn't run at a constant speed, so if you want a multiplatform title you have to play to the 360's strengths and compress your textures - which means you'll end up with an install on the PS3.

I'll wait for a sequel to Dead Space. A true survival horror game, not a Gears of War clone.

Oh dear, this boy needs some tuition. So when Resident evil 4 came out, it was a Gears clone? RE5 is gonna be just like 4 but probably better. It's nothing like Gears you fool! Ur embarrasing yourself saying that Dead Space is a true survival horror game and dismissing the sequel to the best survival horror game ever, which is Res 4. Gears of War clone, lol! That's still amusing after the third time I read it in disbelief. You've clearly not played them both, so I suggest you do before you make yourself look even more intelligent.

die_fiend - RE4 is a brilliant game, but it isn't as survival horror as the older REs used to be.
RE5 looks to be even less horror than 4. It looks more action in the preview builds we've seen so far.

Don't get me wrong. RE4 was my favourite game last generation, but it isn't that scary anymore.
You could argue that RE4 is a better game than Dead Space. A lot of people would agree with you.

But for scares? Dead Space slaughters RE4 any day of the week. They aren't even in the same league. Surround sound up, lights off.

I can't speak for RE5 as I haven't played it, but so far, because it's set in broad daylight and there appears to be nothing but wave after wave of enemies. I have to admit that it currently looks more 3rd person shooter than survival horror. (Although I don't agree with the Gears of War clone label)
We'll have to wait until its released to find out what it's really like.

If you liked RE4 though and you like scares you should definitely check out Dead Space. It is brilliant! And on a survival horror scale beats RE4.

Thanks for enlightening me about Dead Space, but all I said was the RE4 is the best survival horror and you agree with me on that. I never said it was the scariest, just the best. And my argument was that RE5 is nothing like a Gears clone, Pirate Thom just hasn't a clue about most things 2 do with games...he'll just say anything before he's played it ie Res 5 is a clone of Gears even tho Gears was if anything a clone of Res 4. But like I said, the games are nothing alike. Res 5 doesn't even have a cover system as far as I can see yet...

23 - agree with die_fiend
@PirateThom

You do realize that if anything, Gears took ideas from RE4, and that Gears would be a clone of RE4, which is what RE5 is based off of?

Release date of Gears: Nov. 2006

Release date of RE4: Jan. 2005

Almost 2 years difference.

RE4 was and still is an amazing third-person shooter. And I'm not sure what you may consider as a 'true survival horror game' but I thought it sure as hell was one. Maybe not as terrifying or survival-oriented as previous REs in the series, but nevertheless an outstanding addition to the genre.

RE4 is an excellent excellent title, although not particularly scary if you were to compare it to something like Dead Space.

You should check D.S. out. If you like RE4 then you'd probably like Dead Space. They have lots of similarities in play style.
D.S. is just a lot scarier though.

But there is no denying both are excellent games.

Again, like die_fiend, I didn't comment at all on Dead Space so I'm not sure why you brought that up, even though I most certainly agree that it is a much scarier title than RE4.

I have in fact checked out Dead Space and I really enjoyed it. I just have too many games to play right now that I'll purchase it later down the road.
