Euro SOCOM PS3 pushed to "early 2009" - Definitely not out here tomorrow

Eurogamer writes: "Sony has told us that SOCOM: Confrontation will not be out this Friday in Europe, as some retailers are still suggesting.

Instead, a spokesperson told us the online tactical PS3 shooter will arrive in "early 2009". No reason was given for the delay.

SOCOM: Confrontation has been out in America - where little mice go to make their fortunes - for a while."

Now like some have said bad timing yet again, if this hits close to KZ2 it might not do as well but who knows..

Sony for the most par this gen has not been on time..and EU usually get the short end of the stick

I imported this from renchi three weeks ago and im glad i did it is truly awsome fun (think ghost recon 2) it only took a week to arrive and i didnt have to pay import tax.

If SOCOM is coming out in early 2009 in Europe, it needs to come out in January because literally every PS3 owner in the world that loves shooters will be all over Killzone 2 in February. If SOCOM comes out in February, I have no doubt that it's going to get overshadowed by the massive release of KZ2.

When Sony releases highly anticipated exclusives from now on, I think that they need to give each highly anticipated game at least 14-21 days of breathing room before releasing another exclusive because in the U.S., Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Resistance 2 and LBP were all released within about a week of each other, if not less and I think that each game probably could have performed better if they had more breathing room, and now it's pretty obvious why Sony delayed Killzone 2 for Fall 2008 to early 2009.

Plus, SOCOM is a game that needs to be delayed and that should have been delayed to begin with in the U.S. to fix all of the technical issues with the game and servers before it was released.

All I want to hear now from SCEE is a confirmed KZ2 release date for February.

I have been a Socom fan for years, but if I lived in europe I would just wait for Killzone 2 instead. Slant 6 screw up this game and the only reason in my opinion that it was worth buying at all was for the Headset. I've already traded my copy of Socom in at EB Games.

Waste of time.

come on guys! that was SOCOM during its release day. but after the patch, it runs smoothly and HELL LOT OF FUN! I've never played any previous SOCOM myself but I imported Confrontation just for the headset, which is AWESOME and I love it! but know what, I've never feel anything like playing SOCOM since Warhawk! I personally love Warhawk as an arcade online shooter but SOCOM is better in terms of gameplay and teamwork! it even runs smoothly on my 1Mbps connection over here in Malaysia and I've made lots of friends in SOCOM! I personally higly recommend this game for all shooter fans!

All I have to say is play some of the older ones then you'll understand. Socom 2 and Combined Assault are both far far better then Confrontation. You may even like the fact that they have single player games aswell.

SOCOM soled like Sh!t because of bad reviews that it received only becuse of the great amount of glitches that were fixed shortly after release they are not gong to let it happen again.

Hopefully you get a better experience than we've had.

Half the things they've been trying to patch since the public beta and everytime they say it's the last remaining issue with a specific problem but they never seem to be fixed.

I bought this game day after released and I stopped playing it due to bugs.

I bought LBP after that and then soon Resistance 2 at launch day.

between Resistance 2 and SOCOM: Confrontation.. I've been playing SOCOM after 1.2 patch.. this game is actually FUN.. I bought the headset bundle and if you get in a team that actually works together and not ***holes. really fun

patch 1.3 fixes a lot of problems and it comes with LAG FIX. so I can't wait for that.

Your comment brings me to another point, and its that the community in Socom now is terrible. Everyones a "Socom Vet". You can't use this weapon or you're a newb, you can't used that weapon or you're a newb.

The Socom community today is made up of complaining pansies who don't like to use all of the weapons available to make it a "real" experience. People aren't very nice to eachother and people on that game seem to have a real chip on their shoulders.

Blaming the major companies cant be one of the main reason in any delay since its happening to many other products besides video games.

Is there some type of law in Europe on the reason they always get late releases? import laws? im just guessing here but its getting pretty weird how europe delays is a constent thing.

Socom Confrontation should have been delayed in all countries. Consider yourselves in Europe lucky. You dont have to worry about getting your hopes high for nothing like the U.S did.

I have a question regarding this game,since my Girlfriend is in new york next week is there any point me getting this game if its not out in Europe.

What will this game play like if i have to connect to American servers because its bad enough and suffering from vast amount of lag from what i have already read on these and other forums.

So if i tell the girlfriend to get this game am i wasting my time due to server restrictions or do others no better.
