Sony Says More PS One Games On PSN 'Shortly'

There are many classic PS One games available to download through PlayStation Network in Japan, but we've seen barely any here in the United States (does anyone want to play "2 Xtreme," anyway?)

MTV didn't ask John Koller, the head of hardware marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, whether this was changing when we spoke earlier this week. My bad, readers.
But he did follow-up over e-mail last night.
"Yes, we are working on further PSone additions to the PS Store and should see those launch shortly," he said.

1.2 - No, MVC was terrible on PS1

They should just give us an arcade port remade in HD with all the modes the Dreamcast version had. Fix up the broken characters and add online. The PS1 port of MVC was disgusting. All I remember is the game loading 3 or 5 times and 1vs1 fights which were followed up by more loading. I never played Capcom vs SNK on PS1 but I bet it's not as good.

Yah , resi's where sick, Silent Hill too. Well MVC 2 then but it was PS2 though so I had to settle for the first , Im not tripping on that one to much since I got MUGEN though, still its a game that brings back memory's. Bushido Blade was sick though...am I the only 1 that wants it on PSN badly?

DMC2 was just as good as DMC1. I'm being honest. The storyline wasn't as good, but the action was amazing, the addition of bloody palace was fun, and two stories were more than we could ask for.

The only thing i liked about DMC2 are the bosses except the trimage. Desperate DDT was godly. The guy with the dogs was an awesome fight. I love fighting that teleporting demon god, it's just practically impossible to dodge all of his rain attacks.

Boss fights were awesome. Story sucked. Voice acting ESPECIALLY Lucia sucks. Arius voice got all shrieky past mid game. Dante didnt say much funny things.

PURE OWNAGE when he finished off that demon god. He got scared and confused and lost sight of Dante just to realize that Ivory was right on his face for a point blank charged shot.

DMC1:

Nightmare 3 on DMD mode was the hardest fight in the game before acquiring Super Dante. I used the Sparda sword, oddly enough, to kill it since i found it stronger than DTed Alastor and that's minus the double jump.

Scratch that... Mundus 2 on DMD mode was the hardest. Kills you in one or two hits. But then again on DMD mode all enemies are like that except Mundus' attacks are more random and harder to predict.

I'd like to see Blood Omen up on PSN. It's the only game in that series that I didn't get to play. I'm not going to seek it out, but I'd buy it instantly if it went up on PSN.

@PopEmUp - I agree. I'd love it if they put up ICO. I really want to replay it, but my disc got scratched. D:

I'm not sure it's possible though. With the removal of PS2 compatibility from future PS3 consoles I'm wondering whether that will ever happen. Hopefully Sony has something up their sleeve, but I'm pessimistic. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to just sell us a new PS2 instead, even if some of the games are harder to find now.

but that's just obvious. Colony Wars, Omega Boost. SoulBlade. Abe's Odyssey would be better than jet moto 1 or 2 xtreme.

They can do much better for the US, given how much dough we've put down for their games in the past.

Sure, they're going to add more PS1 titles at some point, but they will all be games that no one wants. I just don't understand the hold up. Sure there are licensing issues, particularly with the PS1 developers that aren't around anymore, but why isn't a game like Legend of Dragoon (a Sony developed and published title) not on the PSN?

There's one pretty rare PS1 game that I'd like to see on the PSN.... Einhänder.

I still have the PS1 demo of Einhänder on a Special Edition Demo disc that had a bunch of other SquareSoft games on it and I just love playing it and would like to play the full version without having to spend like $40 or $50 bucks for a used disc copy of Einhänder. Einhänder was published by Sony, so there's no reason why Sony shouldn't be able to do it.

C-12: Final Resistance is another Sony published game I'd like to see on the PSN as well.

Personally I think they're a great deal at 5.99 cause some of these games a quite long. I've bought 2 my self including MediEvil and Castlevania. Personally I would like to see Legend of Dragoon and FF7 cause I haven't played either but heard great things about them.

Wild Arms 2, for starters (I'm thinking this will be one of them that they do release since I remember hearing that it was on the JPN Store, and I'm assuming they'll make the games that are on the other stores avaliable on the US Store first).

The Resident Evil PSOne trilogy, Megaman 8 and the Legends series, Silent Hill.

Those are the only ones I can think of right now.

parasite eve was a damn fine game. The second one got less hype but was good. Too. Nostalgia might not stand the test of time on all the psone classics, but giving it a shot is better than offering the crap on there now. To be honest, I don't know why they bother with the pitiful selection on the US store.

They are leaving money on the table considering the age demographics that play video games (males 18-30) heavily and the sales of those PSONE games.

What about the PS1/PS2 backwards-compatibility ?
I own a 60 GB first came out PS3 and i don't need to buy a fu**in' PS1 game on the PSN ! i got already them and i can play with them on my PS3.

So Sony make an effort to put real games on the PSN, such as SNK or old sega games (saturn).
Why SNK is going to make KOF 98 UM on the XBLA and not on the PSN ?

Sony says more sh*tty PS one games on psn shortly. All the good ones like MGS1 and FF7 will come to either the xbox live market place, or the virtual console. =) "The future belongs not to those who wait." -From Final Fantasy XIII 360 trailer. I guess the future doesn't belong to the Sony droids, cause they have to wait for everything. =)

FF7 cannot come to the 360 because Sony retains the publishing rights on the franchise.It would only come to XBLA if Sony sold the rights to Microsoft which is doubtful.MGS1 is a possibility and its up to Kojima if its ok with him.I didn't like the PS1,preferred the Saturn and N64,but I can see why you say things like that.
