Killzone 2 - On The Spot Today!

"Hello again!

The Online Beta for Killzone 2 is in full swing, and the floodgates have been opened for the press with their Online impressions. It's been getting really good coverage so far, but there's something very cool we're happy to bring to you today. Later this afternoon, on GameSpot.com's "On the Spot" show, the hosts will be showcasing the latest Online Beta code live via Webcast. So if you haven't had a chance to see a good impression of it yet, this is a great opportunity to go and check it out.

It'll happen at 4pm (PST) this afternoon, so be sure to go catch it at http://www.gamespot.com/shows/on-the-spot/ if you get the chance. If you've got access to the beta, log on and take on GameSpot.

We're extremely happy with the way Killzone 2 is coming together, and looking forward to showing you more in the future.

1.2 - This is the only reason I'll watch
is to see more KZ2 footage. I wrote GS off as a biased site a long time ago. Actually it was right after they gave R&C:FTOD such a low score. It appears they're trying to get things right (R2 was AAA and deservedly so). Perhaps I'll start frequenting their site more often.

4 - This game rocks....
I've been playing the beta for a bit now and have to say that it is pretty sweet! The graphics are the best yet hands down. Trust me when I say, YOUTUBE videos do not do the game justice. It is the best looking console game out there. Yes, much better than Gears of War. But the gameplay is a bit different. It feels much heavier than Call of Duty. It's not necessarily a bad thing, you just have to get used to it. It's more realistic which is cool. Also, the camera moves with you.( it shakes realistically when you run) Basically, this game is the most realistic shooter yet when it comes to visuals and physics. After an hour or so I got used to the new physics and LOVE it. Some may not. This game will truly be for the HARDCORE shooters. Also, the shooting is so much fun that I didn't follow the objectives when I first played it. All I did was shoot things. If the single player is as good as the multiplayer, than the other shooters have some REAL competition on their hands. Folks, this truly might be the game that will sell ps3's like candy. Only time will tell.

5 - Lets hype this up even more for you guys
Was just on GAF, and here's a bit of hype for you guys. These are not my words remember. Here it is.

"A friend of mine allowed me take a sneak peak at some SP material that should go live on Dec.4th. Insaaaaane. There's definitely a big sp/mp gap in terms of amount of effects on screen. The colors are insane, lights and such look practically hand painted and surprisingly warm. Red and blue lights on black surfaces is so hot. Helghast look really active and alive. Scenery is out of this world, first game to give me the vibe of a ultra polished cg movie. Super hyped to play this myself."

I can see how Gamespot is going to downplay Killzone 2 "On the spot" just like they do with anything PS3.

First Gamespot employe: To day on the spot. We sit down and try some Killzone 2 beta live.
Second Gamespot employe: You know, this doesn't look any like the E3 trailer from 2005.

*while playing the beta*

Second Gamespot employe: Here we're in the middle of a gunfight which is too intense therefor we're moving away from it.
First Gamespot employe: Now we're walking alone this area which has terrible lighting effects. I mean the lighting itself is just too realistic for our liking.
Second Gamespot employe: Now we're in this room where every thing is destructible. For example; the glass on the windows shatters with impact, the tales on the walls brake apart and the furniture are blown away with every explosion but there is nothing destructible is this game.

Also, those who know about GAF should know that Wollan (one who made the comments) is one of the most credible and respected posters on the forum. His name even made it into the game as a sub-heading for a level portion "Wollan's View" Duckroll, the guy responsible for posting most Final Fantasy/ Square-Enix and other news is in it as well.

Yes. its great, and an excellent example of just how influencing game forums have become over the last few years.

I know many here think that what they write doesn't matter one way or another, but I think that is changing. I think there will be a time (soon) when more people will pay attention even to us here on N4G (provided of course that what we say is at least cogent, LOL)

This kind of info and all the other rave reviews are why I try my best to keep my mouth shut when "certain types of gamers" talk all their BS. I have enjoyed my Wii & 360 but they never had that real "next gen" feel. You know, something that offered WAY more than what others had or where capable of...KZ2 will do all the talking for what the PS3 is just STARTING to show of what it's capable of ~ just like every other Playstation has before.

Now that's not to say there haven't been any number of titles that early on showed it was just a scratch on the surface of what is possible (Uncharted, HS, MS, R1 & later on now like R2, MGS4, GT5P and so forth).

As cheesy as it may sound, I associate it with how it's almost like what my favorite PS3 commercial has to say in it's point about "certain types" ~ http://www.gametrailers.com...
