Virtua Fighter 5 HDD Installation
15
Virtua Fighter 5 is nearing release (in Japan at least) as further details about the port became apparent in the latest issue of Famitsu.
Perhaps the most notable revelation is the fact that the game can be installed on the PS3 HDD to bring loading times closer inline with an arcade fighter. Exactly how much of the 50GB blu-ray disc will be installed on the 20 or 60GB drive, however, remains to be seen.

1 - Excuse me?
The fact that a game will have to eat some gigabytes of your precious and limited hard disc space due to Blu-ray speed limitations isn´t even remotely an advatange.

2 - It's a good idea.
This option is actually possible on a couple of the PS3 games already out, like Ridge Racer 7. It's just a nice option to speed up loading times, and when you start to play it less you can uninstall it to free up space. But even without installing it, the loading times aren't bad at all. A couple seconds longer than 360 titles maybe?

umm... 20GB non upgradeable is precious and limited *cough M$ cough*. 60GB is called room to spare. lol get it right. and even PS3's with a 20GB can easily upgrade being PS3 is universally compatible with 3rd party HDD's. Come on this is a plus stop makin it negative please. dammn haters.

4.2 - give me a break
you are not really saying that the 360's HDD us not upgradeable are you?
Someone had a 500 gig HDD istalled on it a few weeks after it came out, and any USB HDD can be plugged into it.
and seriously, after shelling out that much cash even for a 20 gig model, how impressed would you be to having to shell out more $$$ to upgrade the HDD just to make games run as they should?

4.3 - ^^^The problem is...
MS doesn't support anything larger than 20 gig currently. You can install a larger HD but it won't recognize the extra space. As for a USB drive, the 360 won't write to it, and if it did, the load times would be terrible compared to the serial connection of the standard drive.
Until they give us an option for a larger HD it will remain a problem.

5 - I remember Aquanox back from the PS3portal Forums.
He's been saying the same things over and over, so I'll try and keep this info clean and simple.
Dual-layer DVDs read at half the speed of single-layer DVDs.
2x Blu-ray (on average) reads faster than 12x DVD due this important detail.
If all 360 titles were single layer, the 360 would have the drive speed advantage. But they're not.
Hard Drive Installation is a great feature that significantly cuts down load times since consoles/PCs access their hard drives at exponentially higher rates than physical disc media. It'd be nice if Microsoft allowed this to happen on their console, but that's their choice to make.

6 - Reagtor...
...Aquanox wasn't hating...he just made a valid argument! And he didn't even mention the 360! You on the other hand took out your hater card and started to bash the 360! Looks like some fanboy is a lil afraid of the 360!

I'm not sure if he was hating. It was a valid point that the blu-ray drive has been misinterpreted as being slower thatn dvd drives just because it is 2x compared to 12x - but it is very slightly less on single layer dvd's and beats it against double-layer dvd's.
It is an advantage that every ps3 has an harddrive as this means loading times can be quicker and in effect it can be used as a 'cache'.

8 - Guy with Clown avatar! U kiddin me
"he fact that a game will have to eat some gigabytes of your precious and limited hard disc space due to Blu-ray speed limitations isn´t even remotely an advatange"
Sorry but that sounded like a negative issue pointed at something I see as a plus. Sorry if I took it over the edge to use the word "hate". I apologize to aquanox if I took it too far. But you on the other hand. Hater Card lol. Come on bro gimme a break. I have a hater card then you got a whole deck my friend. Please dont get self righteous. I have seen your rants and raves before. "WHY SHOULD I BUY A PS3" YADA YADA YADA etc. etc. Sound familiar. So dont come in here slinging "hate card this and fanboy that". Im not a hater or a fanboy. can it bro. and again aquanox if you were stating a valid point with facts to back it up I apologize. But I still dont see how the 60GB PS3's HDD space is "limited and Precious" and I still do believe the 20GB HDD on the 360 or none at all on the core is more of a Precious and limited situation. I mean lets be realistic what two systems come into play at 9/10 of all convo's brought up these days. Im sorry for using the 360 I should of compared the 60GB HDD of the PS3 to the non existant one that was included in the original 8 bit Nintendo system. (SMH)
BTW I was never going to correct this but its "R34-GTR" its the name of my car.lol I always found it cool though how you think its Reagtor. No hate though. I agree with like -1.3% of the things you say but I have no hate for you or anyone on this site. Please dont take my "opiniated nature" the wrong way.

The discs still in...it's using it like a cache - so it'll copy some of the game data there and use it as a 'go between'...generally improving load times, also allowing the system to use its resources for other stuff.
