IGN :Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Review

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is fun and a solid entry into the franchise, but I doubt many folks will find it entertaining past a rental. Casual players will punch through the storyline before burning out after getting stumped by one or two Kombo Challenges, while Mortal Kombat fans will have trouble accepting the toned down Fatalities and somewhat slower gameplay. In short, this game's fun, but its legs probably can't carry it beyond the whole "Wow, Batman's fighting Superman" first impression.

I was actually expectting a score like this , Midway really knows how to kill a good Franchise...all these years the MK Franchise was rated"M"..and it sold millions so I dont see the sense in trying to tone down the game just becuase they want to get a Teen rating hoping it will supposedly make the game sell more..

im gonna rent it...and try it out...but im still waiting on MK8...the true next gen MK game..the fatalities I dont even know if I can still call them Fatalities are just LAME.!

1. It's not a real MK game.
2. It's not rated M.

I'm not sure how your comment relates to mine. But this could be Midway's last game if it doesn't do well. Financally Midway is doing really really bad. So yeah, this might be the last of MK you'll ever see, if it doesn't sell well that is.

Definitely not a bad score, interestingly, more than the I expected. Though not my 'cup of tea' (sorry I have English Parents) I can actually see this selling quite well, especially with the DC license and teen rating.

In the review, it said you could use the d-pad for 2D controls and hold the left trigger for 3D movement. Can I switch this in the options and have the analog stick act as the d-pad, using the analog stick for 2D movement and holding down the left trigger for 3D movement?

19 - one word unreal engine stinks....

lame boss fights in gears 2 and 7 to 8 enemies backed up by 7 to 8 enemies and slow as "shell" turn/response ratio. this is not the engine you want in a fighting game.... you need an engine that offers more. boone should open up his broke wallet and build the engine to meet his goals on this game...dummy!!1 sf4 has it own engine as it should be better then this "shirt" i am through with unreal engine build games...

its ok nothing to write home to mom about. put it this way its not your tipical MK game guess the feeling is if you like split universe gameplay then its ok but Im sure most of you hardcore gamers will not like it.

I only bought becuz Im a huge fan of the flash. if he was not in the game I would have not bother buying it.

2 - This was going to be the game that would save Midway.

I guess it failed. Midway is probably going out of business soon. They lost over $65 million this year alone. They should of stuck to the original formula of MK.

The owner of Midway put up like a few mil. of his own cash for this game. Their issue was should they appeal to the hard core, which got them nothing over the last few games. Or should they appeal to a new audience, like the wii. Maybe they should just start a new franchise (like Stanglehold.)
