Killzone 2 definitely utilizes technology not seen in gaming yet, or at least to the level they do. Everything from lighting effects to rendering. The general scene for example shows high detail in the character models as well as amazing draw distance and effects for the back drop.

I like the part where he says sometimes the controls locket up and the player would throw a grenade into the cutscene. That would be hilarious.

The official screenshots that have been released are often bullshots. This means they are released at a higher resolution than is even possible on 360, and have lots of AA and post-processing has been applied.

Of course, we expect a screenshot to show off a game's best side - if you take a screenshot at the best moment you can make a game look really good - but that's not what this is about. The bullshots released by Epic often have improved lighting, AA, resolution and detail.

In Gears 2's case there is actually a full-screen motion blur effect the whole time so if you take an actual screenshot it does look blurry.

I hate the fanboy bullcrap just as much as the next guy around here but xbox die hards have karma coming. For the past 2 years while in development of a solid game base, ps3 has been bashed and torn by the gaming community as a total flop of a console. I will be the first to admit, after playing both consoles the ps3 needed better OS features to be truly on par with it's online adversary. The wait was worth it. Now that development for the ps3 has reached 3rd gen games, it's only proper to compare consoles. Why? I don't know how long i had to stand up to bullys for my purchase of a ps3. Every article was negatively spun, and in some cases still is. I felt like a minority in the gaming community, a ps3 owner. Things have obviously shifted more evenly since the launch of the ps3 only because more people can afford one and the games being exclusively developed are actually utilizing the technology. If you think the fanboy war is bad now, wait until the REAL ps2 base adopters purchase a ps3 after another price cut.

Storyline

The game is set in an era of space colonization where the Helghast Empire has recovered from its defeat in the First Helghan War and launched a blitzkrieg against the outer Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) colony planet Vekta. Vekta's orbital Strategic Defense (SD) platforms failed during the initial assault, allowing the Helghast to land swarms of soldiers onto the surface. This makes it all the more difficult for the outnumbered ISA forces.

In the game, the Helghast are a faction of human descendants who colonized the planet Helghan many generations ago. The planet's harsh environment forced the Helghast to adapt and mutate so much that they can no longer be considered human. They are stronger, faster and more resilient than their human cousins, and possess a burning hatred for humanity. Except for a small number of half-breed Helghast and trained troopers, they require a gas mask and air processing tank that creates air similar to that found on the planet Helghan.
