Yep. Sony will get GTA content and Fallout content...as well as Laura Croft content. Microsoft has to pay like crazy to get these things first because of their lack of first party developers. We'll see if their strategy of throwing money at problems works.

@1.7 - wtf is wrong with you, 1.5 is telling the truth. MS had a 2 game deal with Epic for Gears of War, meaning Gears of War 3 is open for a platform at the moment. So it could end up being Multi-platform, but I really really doubt it would be exclusive to PS3 (because Sony doesn't have enough money to pay for that, especially when they are concentrating on their own studios)

Like said before I would not buy the DLC even if it comes to PS3. I already sold GTA4. There's more games that should be played first. The graphics are garbage and the AI sucks, so screw GTA4 it's not even a true next generation GTA.

I think Mr Maguire needs to sit back and think before he opens his mouth... At no point does he say that he is referring to DLC only, that is inferred by the journo! So for years to come we will see people quoting the head of Sony Computer Entertainment UK as saying 'Nothing is exclusive'.

Even if he did say nothing is exclusive without mentioning DLC, does it even matter? Everyone understand what he means anyway with the exception of a few retarded xbox fanboys. Besides he is so spot on when it comes to rather spending money on games then paying for dlc just so other people on other consoles cant play it. Basically Sony is doing whats good for the industry, giving us more good games. Microsoft is destructive to the industry closing down great developers like Ensemble Studios and spend the money on DLC which they probably would have gotten anyway just so it wont come to the ps3 aswell. Thats just ridiculous and one of many reasons why i prefer sony and ps3

Huh? I realise MS paid for them, but my point is whether it goes multiplat or not, do you really care about the DLC. You'll be lucky to see any of it before Feb/March 09. By which time there will be a torrent (not in the pirate sence) of great NEW games on all the platforms.

now that would be some content. honestly i don't care too much about DLC i don't say it because its MS doing or what not i simply mean it.

i mean i have warhawk and still haven't bought anything for that game. the only thing i got extra was that free trophy update of which i only manage to get 2 off.

in all seriousness DLC is just a way for a company to milk sales in their favor and dry your wallets in the process really. not offense but halo 3 recon? is this a game? or DLC that should be given away for free? warhawk likewise with all its funky maps. seriously im not a fan of these practices.

don't wanna sound like some fanboy but Sony does have a point why not just invest IN R&D and make a new game instead or even create a new franchise? im just being honest here guys, seriously. example alan wake, ill take that over halo recon any day seriously, its new and fresh. Ratchet n Clank quest for booty vs the alternative? ill most likely go with the alternative because it would most likely have a different feel and actually be worth my money instead of paying for something that should be free.

and just for the record i don't care whether they have to invest time and money on these things, because i truly believe they should only do that on more significant projects like actual sequels or new ips instead of these minor ones. see where im going with this?

It's a business bud, you have to balance the risk taking with the bill paying.

The devs have still got to pay their workers who have to pay their nannies, so whilst they may have some fresh IP in the cooker it's a good idea to put some DLC out to get in some added liquidity.

Plus, if you were in tech you'd know this, you never toss away a good piece of architecture. Liberty City shouldn't be left as it is, it's a locale for a lot of possible stuff. It's there, use it - like Paradise city has.

Yeah, even though the majority of games have gone multi., I think that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 will ALWAYS have a few 3rd party exclusives here and there.

Quantum Theory and Wardevil are 2 other 3rd party PS3 exclusives coming 2009, and Sony didn't pay a dime for them. Since Sony didn't pay anything for them to stay exclusive, I'm pretty confident that those 2 games will stay exclusive.

there are some exemptions i would say..

for instance.. some companies like valve just prefer to work on the 360 cause its like the pc to make. as a whole the company may be rethinking their strategy.. but gabe, a developer, has a personal preference.

same can be said for a few ps3 titles. while kojima plans on making future games on both consoles big ambitious titles may be ps3 only or xbox 720 and ps3 due to what you can squeeze with hard drives, blu ray, and use of spu's

then there is the other guy. the guy that still makes ps2 games and probably cant afford to make ps3 and/or 360 games. they may pick a platform and stick to it cause they dont have the man power or finances to do double the work. and dont want to be published by a bigger name because they want to own their IP.

Lots of games are losing their exclusivity simply because Sony is not as dominant as last generation. Only reason for a 3rd party PS3 exclusive now is if the dev wants to take advantage of the architecture.

Having said that I notice how many people talk about games coming to the 360 but how about Saints Row 2? That was a 360 exclusive that they have lost? Pretty big one if you ask me. I mean if you are going to throw Tekken in then we should make note that the 360 is losing exclusives as well. The only difference is that they just don't have as many to start with.

Now Halo "4", thats something thats "exclusive" and would be a "smack-in-the-face" to 360 fanboys. 360 has plenty of exclusives that matter, and so far, none of them have become multiplatform. Besides, more than likely(based on history) the multiplatform games will look better on 360---and that still give those 360 kids some bragging rights.
If SR2 was worth saving as a 360 "exclusive", MS would have paid for it.
