Guitar Hero: World Tour - Faulty Drums?

Kotaku is reporting that there are a number of complaints about the Guitar Hero: World Tour drums coming from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners.
Updates:
Activision has acknowledged there are some faulty drums: "We have learned that certain drum kit controllers manufactured for Guitar Hero World Tour have sensitivity issues. We believe that these controllers are limited to ones in the earlier manufacturing stages."

1 - Sadly..
The drums are also having problems working with Rock Band as well. They don't register at all.

Additionally right out of the box they were somewhat of a mess. The color part on the symbol had come off, a few of the bottom drum rubber pads (that protect your floors) were coming unglued, and the back part with the standard Cross, Circle, Square, and Triangle (I have the PS3 version) isn't firmly attached.

Personally I think Activision should send replacements. It's slightly pathetic to be honest. Heck, the batteries and cymbal clamps were just thrown in the box and I had to rummage to the bottom to find them.

It sounds like what happened with Rock Band last year.

5 - Unsatisfied with the drums
My buddy got the Guitar Hero World Tour game and instrument set today and we played it the majority of the day. I have to agree that the drums are very insensitive because I literally have to hit the drums with a significant amount of force in order for it to register. When I wanna hit the drums lightly, it does not want to register at all like I hit Rock Band's drums. With Rock Band's drums, I can lightly hit them and can get a perfect register.

I am not sure if Activision intended to create and configure the drums to perform this way, however, to say the least, I am not happy with the product. I would be a happy camper if Activision had a knob that would let you set the sensitivity for each pad and hi-hat so that this problem would not exist. Even worse, when I thought the lack of sensitivity wasn't bad enough, the hi-hats kinda drove me nuts. When I hit the yellow and orange hi-hats, throughout the song they shift from the right to the left and causes me not to have a good register. I only get the best response with I hit them in the center.

On a different note, the other instruments, work great. The guitar's slider capability is really neat and the microphone's graphical user interface is definitely improved when compared to Rock Band 1. Anyways, in the mean time, I will just have to get used to the drums. As of right now, I give Activision a BIG THUMBS DOWN.
