Grand Theft Auto IV Price Drop Just In Time For Holiday

GP Reports: "To prepare everyone for the upcoming DLC of GTA IV for our XBOX 360 owners and the trophies that are going live this Monday for Playstation 3 owners, the price of Grand Theft Auto IV has officially dropped to $49.99, making it very affordable for everyone who still hasn't had a chance to explore Liberty City..."

It's just 10 dollars. If it dropped to 29.99 then it'd be something.

1.1 - It's
39.99 used at GameStop. But 29.99 would be better.

yeah a 'greatest hit' price would be perfect for the holidays imo...

these trophies may get me to actually go back and finish the freakin' game though...just no way I am going for platinum in it...not a chance in hell that i'll go on those pointless dates just to get my friendship status up to 100 points...why did GTAIV suck so bad compared to the PS2 GTA's?...and its even funnier that it got so many perfect scores, yet now the reviewers pretty much everywhere admit that it isn't...

"why did GTAIV suck so bad compared to the PS2 GTA's?"

The reason was that everyone expected GTA IV to be San Andreas plus more, and with all the perfect and high review scores people hyped it as San Andreas 2 when it clearly wasn't. If people paid attention to the previews before the game, you could tell that the game wasn't going to be as feature rich as San Andreas and it was gonna be more like GTA III in terms of features and such.

Also, people complain about the some features in IV but if you go back to SA there were some features present that are useless but since the game had so many, only the good ones stand out in people's memories and the ugly ones are overshadowed.

I think everyone can agree that GTA IV was a worse game than San Andreas in depth at the very least. But my biggest disappointments was the missions and the story.

Everyone said how Niko was this likeable guy but I didn't really think much of him by that I mean I didn't like him or dislike him. I just didn't think too much about it. And the story was pretty predictable. The choices you were able to do usually only gave incentive to do it one way (ex Dwayne or Playboy, Playboy was a jerk who would pick him?).

The missions wasn't that interesting either. I mean, it was pretty much go to point A and kill everyone and get back. Once in a while you get a bit more interesting one like the Bank Job. But overall San Andreas and the earlier (3D) GTA's had a much much more interesting missions. Like you would help this Haitians out and then they would call up for reinforcements. I mean there were just a lot more interesting missions overall

same for me...I held off on buying Far Cry 2 and Dead Space because of Resistance 2 and LBP...but always enjoy going back to games I own for a couple quick trophies...

any word on if any are retroactive?...I gave up on GTAIV the day MGS4 shipped...have not played it one single time since...MGS4 better get trophies eventually too...I purposely never went for that big boss hard award (beat it without one spotting, or killing one person) because I figured it would get trophy support sooner or later and I would have to do it again anyway...

I never thought I would enjoy the trophy system at all...and its still pretty pointless to me overall...but it does give some incentive to play games you already own again...which is cool...

that's not a bad idea. it seems that saints row has that raw fun factor that the GTA series used to have. i think r* got a little too comfortable and didnt innovate enough.

4.2 - I agree completely
Saints Row 2 is easily what GTA4 should've been. I had a blast playing through it, and while it was only just under 20 hours, I had one hell of a time during that 20 hours.

4.4 - Agreed.
I rented GTA 4 when it came out, I also rented Saint's Row 2 last week and I must say I liked Saint's Row better. Just seemed like more fun. Maybe it was the hype surrounding GTA 4.
