PS2 Games We Need to See on PSN

CouchMercenaries.com - The Playstation 2 has been getting incredible games for the past 8 years. Even now, two full years after the PS3 launched, new titles are still getting announced for the system every month. The console itself might not be selling at the rate it did three years ago, but it still moves between 100k and 200k units monthly in North America alone. When you come to think of it, this is pretty incredible for an 8 year old system.

So if the Playstation 2 is so awesome, why doesn't Sony start releasing some of the greatest hits on the PSN Store? It would make total sense wouldn't it? Since they removed backwards compatibility from the system, new PS3 owners have no access to play any of these titles. Many gamers would be willing to drop some serious coin on getting a fun catalogue of last gen games ready to play, day or night, straight from the XMB. They would have tons of great games to choose from.

I already have more of those games on a disk. But everyone that didn't get a chance to play SOTC, should download it from the PSN if it is every put up there

3 - Rumors....
There were rumors of this happening previously, as well as a firmware to add emulation to non BC PS3s. It would be a pretty cool thing and would open up plenty of PSN updates and sales.

I still buy PS2 games when I find ones I want, so this may make it even easier to do so.

Would be a nice feature really, though by the way PS1 games are heading to the store, i'd rather have Sony sort that out first before trying to mingle with PS2 games as well.

I still have Shadow of the Colossus, Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, Jak 3, God of War, God of War 2, and ICO on a PS2 disk... I never bought any of the Sly Cooper or Rachet and Clank PS2 games, but I do plan to buy them.

I think that Sony should probably wait until the PS2 is discontinued if they did release PS2 games on the PSN.... Plus, you can still buy almost of the games that they listed brand new Online for cheap (under $20 bucks).... the only games that they listed that aren't cheap Online is ICO because that game is pretty RARE... I've seen new copies of ICO selling for well over $100 bucks and used copies selling for around $35 bucks.

I remember Sony denied rumors about bringing PS2 emulation to the non-backward compatible PS3's via firmware download though, so I doubt that old PS2 games would be coming to the PSN, but I think that it would be a good thing to do for the next Playstation console because by then most PS2 games would be much harder to come by. I just wish that Sony would bring more PS1 games to the PSN at this point.
