who are eager to pick up their copy now....although the appeal of this game still eludes me...Im sure those who are into map creation and such will enjoy this title...I suppose Im more of a pick up and play type of gamer, who does not have hours upon hours of time to commit to "Making a Map on LBP" ...to each their own I suppose

So my question is: can Sony somehow punish gamers that they see are playing the game early since it's not suppose to be out yet? Or, for example, couldn't they just not activate the LBP online servers for the time being so you could only play on your PS3 until the 28th?

I stopped by the walmart on my way home from work tonight and they told me they didn't have it because it was recalled, so I called the one on the other side of town. They told me they had it and had just stocked it, so I drove down there and picked it up. Just so you know the online servers are down, so you can only play the single player mode and create levels right now. Hopefully they open them soon.

Hm... I was recently hired at Target (like literally this Sunday, so I wouldn't even know if my store received copies) so tomorrow on my break I might swing down by their electronics section and pick up a copy... If they do, indeed, have them and I purchased one, would there be any possible way I wouldn't be able to play with friends who get a fixed copy next week?

I have no idea if Sony plans on releasing a patch anyway to remove the track just in case of things like this, so this might seem like a stupid question.

Just swung by my local wal mart, and they had about 10 copies or so out on the shelf, tucked in the bottom of the shelf.

Unfortunately... they wouldn't ring up, and was told to come back around 9 AM... WEAK!!

Hopefully between now and 9 they won't get the memo to recall em.

without the now obligatory, "i STILL don't know the alure-see the appeal-understand the concept-don't like to create so the game isn't interesting to me-etc etc ad nauseum" comments by people who know god damned well that LBP is a "social platformer."

that's all. it's not a hard concept to follow:

Little Big Planet lets you:

1) PLAY 50 levels that the developers have created and strung together to tell a story. there is narrative throughout the 50 levels, and even an end boss (and holy crap are those last two levels and the end boss are brutal! they're awesome though, but brutally hard). these levels serve two purposes: to entertain those that don't like to create (and those that do, naturally), and to INSPIRE those that DO like to create, by showcasing how versatile the included level creation tools are. the gameplay is a 2D platformer, with some great gameplay mechanics, and superb level design.

2) PLAY those same 50 levels with up to 4 other people, either online, or on the same screen (me and my fiance, and my two roommates had a ball playing the game together in front of the TV).

3) PLAY countless levels that have been created by gamers that DO enjoy creating things, and have been inspired by the 50 included levels. you can get countless hours of enjoyment from LBP without EVER having touched the creation tools. like modders on the PC, there's always people who are willing to devote the time and effort to create something when given the option, even if YOU don't want to.

4) CREATE your own levels if you are so inclined and inspired by the Story mode of the game.

5) And lastly SHARE those created levels online with other Little Big Planet users.

seriously, what is there NOT to get about this game?

do you guys not know what a 2D platformer is?

if you do, then how fricking hard is it to wrap your head around a 2D platformer that you can play ONLINE with friends?

now, if you can grasp THAT, what's so hard about saying, not only can you play this game online with your friends, but you can also BUILD your own levels if you like, and post them up on the internet for others to enjoy, a la YOUTUBE (i mean, you guys grasp the concept of youtube, right?).

seriously, i think most of you people that "don't get it," are simply being trolls. this isn't rocket-science, and the many videos posted of Little Big Planet do more than enough to address what the primary gameplay is (2D PLATFORMER). if you've ever played a Mario, Sonic, or even say, i don't know BRAID on XBLA (that's a game most Xbox 360 fans seem to love; ps, i love it too, i think it's bloody frigging BRILLIANT), then you know ALL you need to know about LBP's gameplay. it simply steps it up a few notches, and then hands over controls to create your OWN worlds to you.

i don't know about anybody else, but i remember when i was a kid, thinking, "man, i could come up with a cool Super Mario or Sonic level! if only i knew how to program..."

well, thanks to LBP, i don't NEED to have majored in game programming to make levels and creations on par with SMB and Sonic.

i swear, i just don't get the feigned "mis-understanding" of this game.
