Yoda and Vader SCIV DLC Confirmed - Foolish You Are if Foresee You Did Not
11
Ripten: "If the numerous photo and video leaks hinting at an eventual Soul Calibur IV DLC, allowing PS3 and Xbox 360 owners to download Yoda and Darth Vader respectively, were not enough to convince you of its existence, Namco is now confirming what many of us already expected..."

2 - OMG...
Namco is known for putting the content on the disk then selling the keys to unlock them...but 5$ for ONE single character, is just outrageous. I hope gamers will boycott this, but then again, it won't happen. Shame on you Namco, shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any way to tell if the content was already on the disc?

The sad thing is there won't be enough people boycotting it.
The number of well informed people on to the nickel and dime scam of Namco is, I'd guess, relegated to those who frequent any sort of gaming forum. If I had to give a percentage, maybe 30-40% of the gaming public is familiar with "Scamco" and it's practices. The rest, which unfortunately is responsible for game companies being able to do this, are more than happy to plunk down the cash for an edge, either perceived or actual.
With that said, a boycott will be useless. And until there is significant movement from the game-o-sphere, we will never see the end to the absurd "pay per plane" found in Ace Combat, the "cheater skill set and level up" packs of Tales of Vesperia, and these "weapons, clothes, and character packs for the lazy" in Soul Calibur.

Often it is file size of the content that will be a give away.
For example, 12kb would be a key rather than new content because a character, complete with animations, textures etc will be larger than 12kb.
