I really don't trust Eurogamer for my PS3 reviews.
Their previous history concerns me.

giving MGS4 the same score as Pure (both 8/10) makes it very obvious that you cannot trust them in their reviewing system.

IMO eurogamer is too concerned about the entertainment (traffic) on their site, rather than in true gamer's interests.

And please don't tell me that they're just a tough site.. because that theory got crushed when they gave Halo3 a `10.. not saying that Halo3 is a bad game.. just saying that it did not deserve a 10 if they were so hard to impress..

As of now.. the only website trustworthy has become IGN.. they seem to love all platforms and all games.. that's what i like to see.

@Bullettoothtony - Yeah I agree with you there, IGN seem like they give unbiased (but usually quite harsh reviews), so I tend to see what score they give more than other sites.

Although even if LBP gets 5/10 I'm still going to get the game, because I don't buy games based on review scores, but on my personal opinion by watching trailers, gameplay, live demos etc.

I don't look for scores either, to me they don't mean much, even though you can usually assume anything that is 7 or higher is pretty decent.

The thing people should be looking for is the review underneath the score. That's what will tell you about all the flaws(if any) and the game play experience.

i dunno about not trusting them
i mean would u pick up a game thats 1/10? i wouldn't.

last gen i used reviews as a base line, anything above a 7 was fair game for me to try atleast once. if i liked it i kept it, if not i returned it simple as that.

games get reviewed for a reason. unless u only buy games that are 9.5-10 range, reviews are only guidelines for what you should try and what u should stay away from.

even if LBP scored an 8 average on all reviewing sites id still try it because i like the whole costume thing.

Yeah I agree. Especially after I heard Konami gave restrictions to the reviewers for their game MGS4. They pretty much said do not mention all the negatives. Once I heard that, I never looked at a review score the same.

THAT tipped you off Knight? Really? Weird, I was tipped off when reviewers were caught being given swag bags to review Halo 3, which came out well before MGS4. You must have missed that part...

BTW, I'm all for hiding the story spoilers that Kojima wished to keep secret, which I was told was most of the restriction anyways. Spoiling the ending of 60 years of continuity would be a d1ck move.

Actually they also said not to talk about the horrendous loading and the long and boring movies. It's funny how other games don't get the same treatment. I know Mass Effect had points taking away because of the loading and that was only a fraction compared to MGS4.

Its mainly because of the hype factor. As much as this game deserves a 10 or even a 11, they dont want to be conceived as a site that is overwhelmed by the mass hype and appeal of this game as a whole.

Well actually it'll be the first PS3's AAA over 9 out of 10 average rated game.

The other PS3 exclusive has more cutscenes then gameplay and should be rated as an AAA BluRay movie.

Ps2 had many exclusive AAA games
Xbox 360 has many AAA games.
PS3 has one.

AAA mean a metacritic score of 90 or above and great sales.

And yes it does matter. The only people that would convince themselves it doesn't matter are the people that only own a ps3.

Maybe it only matters for the major fanboys who are calling out systems for not having games that don't have 100s all around.

For the general gamer, I can assure you it doesn't matter.

And I can also tell you it doesn't matter for me. Which is why I bought games like Call of Duty 3, Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire. Because Reviews are only meant to give you an opinion.

There are soo many underrated games that are really great! But because of sites like metacritic, those games are considered crap.

All I know is, if I like the game, to me it's Triple A.

So if a game has 89.4% average, then what...? lol. I think 3 PS3 games have averages that are 88-89, funny isn't it? And agree and bubbles for you hellangelzx. I buy the games that I enjoy. For example I'm a fan of the 2K series for basketball and none of them ever had 90 or above averages. I still buy them.
