Home Closed Beta Ends soon; Tons of third party support.

The SixthAxis writes:
"According to the official Japanese SCEJ site, the current closed Home Beta is due to end in a matter of weeks, presumably then opening up the final 1.0 version to a wider public. Additionally, here's a list of companies that have signed up as partners for Home, providing content, spaces etc..."

Interesting Square isn't in the list... but this shows strong signs of support from third party developers. In fact, it's a pretty daring undertaking, and it shows a lot of confidence on the part of the publishers, that we the consumers/fanboys don't see.

They must all be sold on Sony's long term concept of HOME in order to come together and invest their time and programming teams to develop this virtual world. I am amazed that given the "supposed" dark news of sales being eclipsed by the so called "competition" that they choose to take on this big project. In fact what this tells me is that the third party publishers all see Sony as the long term player in this arena and a winner if not THE winner. The news is rosy from an industry standpoint. Think of this as the equivalent of Apple signing up most of the major/minor music labels. It requires a high level of cooperation and teamwork to make a system of this complexity happen. Definitely even more so than Apple Itunes store "ripping" and hosting AACs.

Sony is definitely winning the hearts of publishers.

Dont worry man, im getting that error from time to time too...
Maybe they are updating their servers without taking them off, or it might simply be huge stress on PSN, cause lots of people in LBP and Home checking out uncharted... I think itll be fixed soon... =D

Mine did that for a little while. It turned out to be the router's fault. Until I buy a new router I just plug my ps3 directly into the modem.

I'm not in a rush for it though. LBP will be stealing a GR8 deal of my time. That and work.

If we are in the closed beta currently, when it becomes open, are we able to keep everything we created? Uncharted bar was pretty sweet btw.

I just logged in to the Home Beta for the first time last night. Little did I know that my e-mail for the invite was sitting there since October 3rd.

My first impressions.

Its not bad. Not bad at all, actually. I've come to the realization that I need a keyboard though.

Graphically speaking, it is very appealing, and laid out very well. At first, when you have to download the installs for the separate squares/malls/markets and whatnot, it can usually take about a minute or so. Then, I would say it takes about another 10-15 seconds to load up each time you enter or exit a different section of home.

The mall seems pretty cool, although for now they basically have the same stores on the first level as they do on the second.

The gaming square on the other hand, is a lot of fun. I met up with a friend of mine and we played a round of pool, and the physics on it are pretty solid. I am absolutely clueless as far as the bowling is concerned. After 5 straight gutter balls, I said "no thanks". Not that it is n't any good, I just happen to suck at it.

Communication isn't bad either, although as I had stated earlier, you should definitely invest in a keyboard. The voice communication was horrible, to the point where it was non-existent. My buddy had told me that they were having issues with it.

At first, it was basically empty, excpet for a couple of people mulling around, but a half hour later, the place was packed. I got into Sully's bar, and it seems cool, although whatever that game is that they have in the arcade cabinet looked like something that got thrown up out of an NES system.

In conclusion, I liked it. The gaming space, and getting friends together to play seemed really fluid. It does need some work, but for what it is right now, its worth the time to download it and check it out

13.1 - i didnt disagreed
and i think there will be complaints but if sony managed to come out with warhawk, insonmiac rooms(resistance, ratchet) and most importantly LBP own BUILDING lol there will be a lot of happy people, it was a great surprise to see uncharted bar yesterday the only thing is missing is a trophy room ( which could be the downstairs room for all i know , i think we wont be able to get access to it b4 october 24th (thats what i heard) but overall the bar is pretty neat , i like it , but the number 1 game that needs to be there is LBP , you know it, i know it, everybody knows it, and the ability to launch games online with your friends , cuz right now you can launch any game you have on your ps3 but just by yourself not with other people , im gonna be honest with you i got really excited to finally see the first game room in home i think is a step forward in the right direction

i concur with your statement "Communication isn't bad either, although as I had stated earlier, you should definitely invest in a keyboard. The voice communication was horrible, to the point where it was non-existent. My buddy had told me that they were having issues with it."

the beta has been out for a long time and i have seen no patches for this issue. the loading times get so annoying up to the point where i just turn home off and i have a great net connection speed at 15 mbps

in is the sporting rooms, SEGA and Konami.
Launching MGSOnline would be kick ass from HOME

That wold be awesome, but I don't see it happening. All that Konami ID BS probably makes it impossible.

Plus I haven't even heard about them working on trophies for MGS4, so I doubt they're doing anything with Home.

...They do all this, and expect their games to sell on the PS3?

Good luck with that, buddy.

With microsofts arvaters coming out soon, this will definaly put alot of pressure on Sony to finish this and get it out of the door. Im not a wii/xbox fanboy, hell I only own a ps3 myself, but Sony really need to proitate to deliver then promise.
