Lmao at the guy on that website saying $20 is too much for this game.

This game could have been at 40 and people will still buy it.

1.2 - This game could've been $60 and still sold
This game looks and plays amazingly well. As a owner and one of the top 100 players in the world that plays Lair, This is the first game other than Crysis that wows me beyond Lair's graphics and gameplay for a console game. MGS4 was done really, really well, but in graphical terms, You can really see the difference between a 720p and a 1080p game.

And the gameplay for Wipeout is still as intense as the PS1 game with even better controls.

All of that for just twenty bones; and you'll have enough to save towards your next game, or have mad snack money.

Lair is a decent game, no doubt, but nothing besides Crysis has wowed you beyond it graphically? Graphically, Lair was inconsistent. It looked amazing at some parts, but really bad at others. But hey, your opinion is just as valid as mine.

wipeout is boring in Venom class,
but in Phantom class.. Holy sh*t, it's so intense. Love it so much. Great buy indeed...and the good plus is they have trophies...

I agree, well worth the 20 bones. But if it was more than 20 it would have never peaked my interest. And 60 bucks would have been out of the question. I would have just played wipeout on my PSP when I needed a fix.

"The game looks great in 1080p at 60 frames per second. How did you accomplish this?

Our art assets were produced with high performance in mind, we put a lot of work into optimizing the Wipeout HD engine for the PS3's cell processors, and our rendering team are ninja-hot."

Well what did you expect from ninja-devs!? Lol, ninja-devs ftw!

1.10 - Best racing game IMHO
Why? Simple.

Price = 20 bucks
Fun = Fast and frantic
Replay = Online for free
Looks = 1080p, 60fps...

Need I say more?

1.11 - Incredible deal
I do not think $20 is a profit based price. It's a price intended to maximize distribution while breaking even. However, the price is so low that many people might overlook it.

I'd have priced it at $40 and packaged coupons for $20 off select full priced games. That way you maximize distribution not just of this game but others as well.

That graphics are stunning on any TV but especially so on a high performance 1080P set.

WipEout HD has re-ignited my love for the series. Every single regular that I play with online picked up this game, perfect price and value. Im looking forward to hearing great numbers in terms of downloads for this one, and im really excited for downloadable content.

AG-Systems, Assegai, and Triakis FTW!!!

Sony Liverpool, formerly known as Psygnosis did a huge favour for the PS3. This game is one of the reasons that 1080p is important in HD gaming. It looks great, sounds great, controls great, and to top it off it's not easy. They've shown that a new game can use the CBE to it's potential and display very high resolutions at the same time. Sure they used a few tricks to keep the fluid 60FPS in every situation, but for that they should be complimented. The overall experience is amazing. This is the first Wipeout I've played on a TV-based console in about 5 years and they captured the spirit of the series extremely well. Sony knows HD gaming, and their first party studios prove this time and again.

I still have yet to pick this up, mostly because I am yet to warm to not having a physical copy of the game. Seeing all the positive press it is getting, this may be the first downloadable title I get. Good to see the company decided to release it at a very nice price when they could have probably gotten away with a $30-50 release.

I really enjoy the game and the price is great,but I find the tracks a little underwhelming,I never get a proper rush from them,it's possibly because they are designed around what the psp could push in terms of insane loops and twists(and they do say why psp tracks are used)I think we will have to wait for DLC or a PS3 specific version before they can pull out some mind blowing tracks.

...has become less about news and celebrating great games than it is about being a giant pi**ing contest. Wipeout HD is a great PSN title, so what if its just the HD version of previous Wipeout games. Hell, how many games on PSN and XBL aren't just revamped versions of older games.

User's of this site sure have launched some big attacks on PS3 owners of late. Mind you, I doubt any of the crap on this site actually influences anyone with half a brain.

the way I view it, sony did it for the love of video games and for its fans. im glad we still have many developers and people out there willing to sacrifice money for the things they love to do to keep everyone happy, especially the way the economy going right now.

thank you sony and to those that know that money isn't always everything.

yeah totally, put the price at 60, yeah what a great idea

take 40 more dollars from all of us

yeah, great, idea

no

and you guys are kidding yourselves

at 60 dollars this game would have sold about 900% less

I would not have paid more than 30 and that is stretching it since I don't pay more than that for any game

only kids with parents + job money can afford that stuff as an average american

who the **** has 60 dollars for more than a couple games a year

it's 6 tracks guys, repeated

the 1080p graphics are being just a teensy weensy overindulged here

yeah, they look nice but we knew they were nice

it's definitely not anything even close to Uncharted

so yeah, people talking like they WANT the price raised

go back to where you came from

People are obviously impressed by the perceived value of the product.

It doesn't matter that it's only a handful of tracks. The production values and quality of the game make it feel like it's worth more.

The price point for me was the icing on the cake; it's exceptional value. No one is saying they want it raised - it's obvious this is a budget title, but the price point is below budget and in to bargain territory.

There isn't a single negative thing to say about this release.

This is the first wipeout game i have played, aside from pulse on the psp. I didn't like the psp game cuz i felt the controls were a little out of whack. Ever since i downloaded HD iv'e been COMPLETELY adicted to it. This game is absolute gold, i even made a custom techno soundtrack cd for the game. At $20 with promised DLC to come, it's impossible to go wrong.

As an owner of Wii, 360 and PS3 I have to say the PS Store makes the other services look mediocre at best.

Sony have a great range of titles that no other service is offering. Big titles that could easily sell at full price (WipEout HD). Budget titles with unheard of production values for digital distro (Ratchet and Clank, GT Concept). Episodic gaming with Siren. Unique titles like FlOw and Eden, plus a whole bag of really solid games(SuperStardust HD is still one of my faves).

Plus there's the PSP and PS1 downloads. If Sony add PS2 downloads in there as well they'll have the perfect service.

Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on MS and Ninty, I own plenty of stuff from the Wii Store and XBLA and it's all good. But Sony are doing a better job right now in terms of variety, value and setting the bar so high that competitors have to raise their game.

13 - Wipeout Boring on venom?
I'll tell you the good sides and the bad sides of this game.

Good,

-Fast
-Amazing 1080p graphics
-Trophies
-Online up to 8-players supporting voice chat
-Long lasting appeal

Bad,

-No recored wins/losses for online battles
-Some technical problems such as freezing and file corruption
-Voice chat is too low and unclear
-Underpriced (Some might think this is a good thing)

Agree or disagree
