As for the article, I am sorry but how long have these guys been in the industry? Have we forgotten that very few console manufacturers if any at all would split their user base in two like this? Coming out with a better PS3 is not something they are going to do and is complete speculation. PS3.5? Come on guys, that would take years of R&D and why would they waste time on that when they could be spending R&D dollars on their next full iteration of the PS console?

The problem with journalism today is they turn speculation into rumor then turn rumor into facts... Or at least facts for the fanboys that feed off of silly talk like this.

As long as my Ps3 gets all the multi-platform games and all the first party exclusives, then haveing a slightly more advanced version of the existing console may not be a bad idea, as long as it doesn't steal all of the exclusives, it may be smart to not call it ps4 or anything like that just an improved version of the ps3 something around the words of ps3 re-evolved or something idk but just don't replace the ps3, i know what your thinking, whats the point?? idk but it just seems silly to replace the ps3 in 2010, but i'm just trying to work around the fact of replacing a console so soon, when i believe the ps3 has so much more to give then 1 and 1/2 years!!!

Oldest trick in the book, it's called FUD. Just before the big holiday season put doubt in the mind of consumers that another version is coming so they shouldn't buy one now. You could take any product, make your guesses at a possible revision and then make an article based on that speculation with no sources or credible backing.

I don't think that there will be a PS 3.5, but I do think that the PS4 to be more like a PS3.5. SONY has a very dynamic characteristics. Money being the largest contributing factor. The PS4 will be continued development of the PS3. The biggest upgrades I see the PS3 is memory or HDD based.

In that respect, I'd say, they shouldn't only introduce a new PS4 (based on the PS3, 2xppu,32xspu, new RSX), but a speced down PS3 Lite. :) BTW: The article is rubbish.

I hope Sony doesn't take the Wii or 360 route for the PS4. Sony please push the technology. Don't let the Wii's success and Microsoft success despite having faulty hardware and having a last generation media format cause you to take the cheap route next gen.

Correct me if im wrong but didn't the original xbox only sell like what 25 million?? And there only at 20 million after 3 years.with a full year to themselves with no competition.

so they didn't even get the full 25 million mark yet.Infact they LOST consumers.And it already looks like 360 is out of steam.Hell,there so cheap you'll be getting them free in a f*ckin happy-meal soon enough.

And no RROD isn't gone.It happens everyday all around the world.It happened to my friend denny a few months back.Im scared to even play mine for more then an hour or two.Sucks to own a 360.

The Xbox 360 video game console is subject to a number of technical problems that can render it unusable. Some, but not all, of these problems are identified as "general hardware failures," and are indicated by three flashing red lights around the power button. All four red lights simply means that the console cannot detect its AV cable. This May Vary,However.There are some reports that the Xbox 360 will or will not work when the Red Rings of Death appear. Some people have countered this by messing around with their Xbox and just by simply restarting the whole set-up.

Several video game blogs, newspapers, and magazines (Such as Wired, Kotaku, Joystiq, The Inquirer, GamePro, G4, and several others) reported on an interview by a Seattle PI Reader Blog "Digital Joystick" with a confidential source inside Microsoft by the name "xboxfounder". It reported that this source was a team leader and key architect in the creation of the Xbox and Xbox 360 and a founding member of the Xbox team and has since left the company but maintained close ties to the remaining Xbox team.

The interviews suggest that Xbox 360 units that fail early in their life do so because of problems in the system design, parts supply, material reliability, and manufacturing issues as well as a system not tolerant to faults. These issues were alleged to be the end results of the decisions of management in Microsoft's Xbox team and inadequate testing resources prior to the console's release. Other websites claim the insider's authenticity has been confirmed
