"As a special bonus to GamePro's August Resistance 2 issue, starting this Monday, October 6, GamePro.com users will have a special chance to win access into the Resistance 2 Public Beta. We'll be giving away 500 Premier passes to the Resistance 2 Beta, which provides you the chance to try out the new online multiplayer features in Resistance 2 (including the 8-player class-based online co-op and up-to-60-players competitive multiplayer features).

Watch this page on Monday morning because we'll open up the contest page, where you can enter for your chance to win. And as promised, readers and subscribers who hung onto the Resistance 2 August GamePro magazine will have an extra chance to win. More details to come on Monday. Bullshot. When you advertise beta codes for a highly anticipated game on the front cover of your magazine (in order to sell it) you expect 1/1000 of the buyers to even have a slim chance?

The front cover didn't indicate it was a CONTEST. You sold copies by false advertisement. "FREE Resistance 2 Beta Codes" BULLSHOT. It's a contest. a chance for a beta code, yes, but FREE beta codes, fock no. You guys are cheap scumbags. false advertisement is bullshot. you're lucky there is no suit against you.

To any people who wasted their money on the Aug. Issue of Gamepro. I hope you realize that you could have downloaded Qore episode 3 for 2.99$ and you would automatically be in the R2 OPEN Beta. That is a lot less money and NOT a contest.
Anybody who wants to waste their time here on GamePro, feel free to, but I would suggest grabbing ep 03 of Qore or an annual subscription to Qore which will get you into the beta at the same time as this shotty contest.

Nobody has official info on when the open beta starts. I'd expect soon, as the game will be released in less than a month.
In my opinion when a beta is being played in less than a month before release the beta is not in fact a TRUE beta.
The game will be going to press very soon. Alterations cannot be made in less than a month.
It would seem to me as though devs and publishers are taking a very liberal stance on what BETA truly means.

Traditionally a beta was released for feeback and constructive critisism. However it would appear as though BETA is being repositioned as an early demo. This is very dissapointing to me. Betas serve a purpose of refining a game through user feedback in order to deliver the best game possible for the general public. If devs and publishers continue this trend of treating betas as early demos, what will be delivered to the public will not be at the level of quality that is potentially there.
