I bought R2 limited edition on Gamestop a couple of weeks ago and an email arrived with a key and the message:
"
You are now guaranteed Premier access to the Resistance 2™ Beta, which means you can play during the entire Public Beta period! Watch your PLAYSTATION®Network e-mail Inbox for further instructions as you will receive an e-mail that includes step-by-step instructions on how to download the Resistance 2™ Beta code and how to get started playing both the co-op and competitive multiplayer gameplay features of Resistance 2™."

This reads like not everyone who applies for the public beta wil get in.

In order to receive emails from sony OTHER THAN purchase and password confirmations, you have to 'check' the"receive promotional emails" boxes in your PSN account management options.

You know the ones that say something like this-

"Receive promotional offers from SONY"

"Receive promotional offers from SONY's third-party partners"

Check YES in those boxes to receive emails from them other than just password/purchase confirmations.

BTW I'm in the HOME beta and it's SWEET! I'm supposedly guaranteed to get into the R2 beta I hope I can get into the LBP beta cus then I would be 3-for-3

I did the same and i haven't got anything from sonym you have to work on get the beta yourself i got in the warhawk,Socom, and LBP beta and did it all myself. Stop depending on sony. If there weren't no public beta for any console, you wouldn't be asking for it.

The only way you can depend on sony to get in a beta is if you become an official beta tester whenever they do there beta tester recruiting.

They say im a Home Beta Tester on the Playstation Forums , Yet they never sent me an email so Im not really. Signed up for qore day 1 , never got a Socom beta email from them (got 1 from a bud) either.

LBP Beta had to get a key from eurogamers.com. Im hoping the R2 Beta through Qore actually goes through Qore because anytime Ive had to rely on getting a key through email from playstation its never happened.

Yet I know they know my email , because whenever I buy something on PSN I get a Purchase Confirmation Email.

To be frank, I'm tired of those open beta runs... Sony should just put a demo for everybody, put up´a download in PSN for whoever get it before or just raffle off names on PSN and give the beta codes to those people.

No need to put everyone on warning, chasing sites (some sites will just get your hits, right GameSpot?), just to play a bit of the game before it comes out, when most people will just be stressed and don't get it, while some people will get more than one code, or even only one core, to don't play it (will sell it, give it), not to say, people without the console can get it just because they don't have nothing better to do...

This is really not necessary when all PS3's are capable of being connected directly to Sony.

I know this Beta probably won't be like LBP one, maybe I just want to complain, but really, they could just do it in PSN.

I think the idea of using your PSN to send out beta's is a good idea. Rather than making people work for it, it could be based on play time or the types of games you play, and things like that.

I don't think giving public access to the beta is a good idea though. A lot of people wouldn't understand what a Beta is and would be upset by the game being slightly broken. It could effect sales if people thought the Beta was a good representation of the actual game. Usually it is, but sometimes it can crash your PS3, freeze, or do other things that will frustrate the average consumer.

Demo's should be available on the PS Store, and Beta's should be done completely through PSN. You could sign up online to get Beta invites, and Sony would send notifications by just messaging on the PSN. It would be a lot easier, and much more fair (assuming that is possible).
