I keep hearing that while killing people with M14. Yes, not so fun for newcomers, but after sometime you play it, you know how to deal with people coming with ANYTHING.

After all it's just an Assault Riffle or a Sniper Riffle. No one can use as both at the same time, you just need to be ready to deal with both situations (proceed in cover for the sniper spots and be ready to supress fire if they are close (so sniper on your side can take the guy out).

Most experienced people just keep under cover, don't risk too much so ANY sniper can't get then that easily, proceed carefully, trying to take enemies unaware of your presence. SNEAKING.

But, if you are one of those guys that just run around, yes, you gonna get shot. Don't know if by a M14 trought.

Now, on KillZone 2. I don't think they gonna put a scope in this baby. They want it to be a "battle rifle, between sniper rifle and assault rifle". Scope will made it a sniper. Bigger mag will make it an not automatic assault (both will make it a MGO's M14), and I don't think they want it to go like that.

I can see this being the last popular weapon of the game, because it's jsut a overpowered revolver. few shots, no good aiming, lor fire rate... but more powerful and with bigger range. Very limited in use, like shotguns became in most FPSs, something you don't see everyguy using.

They talk about use it to deffend a position. If you want to take out attackers while camping in your base, you can just use a sniper or, to aim faster (but less precise), a assault riffle (even if you miss some, you have a good chance of hitting enough or at least make some supression).

If you read the background on the rifle, it's a medium-long range support rifle, not a sniper rifle.

I guess they could add a saw to the front of the barrel so you could kill people easier at close range if that would make you happier. I'm just not convinced that putting such devices in places where your hands might occasionally wander during a battle is the best idea. Plus, if you're going to start putting shop tools on the fronts of all your weapons in an attempt to compensate for a lack of depth in other areas, where does it stop? Will you need to have a power sander on the shotgun and a t-square attachment on the pistol just to squeeze out some fun with the game? Nope, I'd say it's impressive enough that they're actually putting some thought into making a realistic and promising game. And I love it when developers take the time to consider back story--it's part of the fun that makes a gun more than just "a gun".
