Resistance 2 Campaign Mode As Long As Predecessor

James Stevenson, who is head of Community Relations over at Insomniac Games, recently responded to a question over at NeoGAF relating to the length of Resistance 2's single player campaign mode.

He commented that the campaign is likely to be of a similar length to that seen in Resistance: Fall of Man, but it could be a little bit shorter or longer.

I thought I was the only one having Resistance as the first FPS I played! me too, me too...I'm a true fan and Resistance have truly brought me into playing other FPS. I love Resistance and the fact that we are still in september is really killing me! I want this game so bad!

Resistance fall of man was my first fps game and i loved it , i love the story , the cooperative mode and online(it was my first online game on a console) , Resistance is a very special game for me, if it wasnt for it i would have never picked up other fps(cod4,ut3) i dont like them as much as resistance but at least i played them (cod4 story dont do it for me but online is good and ut3 doesnt even have a story) i cant wait to help Hale fight the chimera again, just got my issue of the official playstation magazine mannnnn the game looks and sounds incredible, if you guys dont have enough friends to play the 8 co-op story you can add me psn id: remanutd5

I would only hope it's longer, but I must say the first one was pretty damn long. I'm thinking I'm done with the game, but there another stage. I almost ripped the little hair I have on my head out from the length.

I loved that Resistance just kept giving more. Very long for a FPS especially compared to many out right now. Then when it ended I was glad because it had lasted a long time but then I was sad because I wanted more at the same time.

If R2 is the same length it will be just right I think especially with the TWO compaigns and amazing MP.

R:FOM campiegn clocked in at 14-18 hours on normal dificulty, with 2 player co-op by your self it was about 18-20 and then if you play it on the hardest mode it was a different story, It was along goame worth the 16.5 gigs of bluary space it took up. Resistance 2 confirmed single player to be the same length just means we aren't getting a COD4 or Halo 3 5-7 hour experience of single player.

i simply cant wait.

Good to hear.

Considering that the original was long as hell! (no homo?)

What made me feel a little let down though was the shortness of some levels.

Some were extremely long( goshdamnit no homo) and others were about 20 seconds. (anyone remember the stalker battle?)

Other than that, I must say I was pleased with the last game, and this one will be great too!

Anyone else notice my comment was extremely sexual today?

I was hoping that the Single Player Campaign in Resistance 2 would be as long as Resistance 1... I'd have to say that Resistance 1 is probably one of the longest First Person Shooter games I've ever played. It would be nice if all FPS games clocked in at around 10-12+ hours in campaign mode though.

Perharps I played to many RPG's in my life but I got through resistance in like 5 days, and quite frankly, I didn't find it all that long. Well it must be because I never got through any other FPS in single player because each time I got to play one, it was with friends in a party or other kind of meeting. Yep I never got through Halo1...

FPS's usually last 4-14 hours. R1 was quite long for an FPS, took me bout 10-12 hours in Co-op. still havent finished single player; keep on duying.

this is nothing but good news! i hate when campaigns are only like 5-8 hours long (yeah, i know Uncharted is awesome, i own it, thank you). and for Resistance 2? i looooove the first one, so knowing the campaign wasnt half-assed and short (since all we hear about is the MP / online aspect) made my day.

* i know, short games can be fantastic, like Shadow of the Colossus, among others, just saying if a game is great and it ends quickly, it is just a tad disappointing... at least for me.

i haven't gotten resistence one and boy timeshift is amazing and it looks long too espcailly going through the same level twice to go through another area haven't played for 2 days after when i did again i was like crap why am i going through the same level maybe i loaded an old save file lol anyways resistence 1 is probably the first fps i actaully got interested and went crazy for hopfully i can nail a job and does anyone think getting resistence 1 and 2 at the same tiem crazy lol

If it doesn't compare to Bioshock or COD4, I'm not even interested. Those two FPS games have made me totally rethink my gaming purchases. I did own Resistance: Fall of Man and I beat it twice on normal and hard which were both great challenges and hours of fun. One problem now though, I can see how it could be considered to be a last gen game. The visuals and animations are old, they definitely only look a tiny bit better than a PS2 game. I personally think that Fallout 3, Dead Space, Far Cry 2 will be more worthy of my hard earned money. I eagerly await to be proven wrong.

Yea, R1 wasnt the best FPS around. -though i wouldnt say its PS2 quality. .. mabye it was cause i played it on 720p or something.
but you shouldnt base your opionions bout R2 on R1. have you seen the trailers.

The campaign was epic (around 15 hours), i cant spoil details in a forum, but is about an invasion, no one knows where it came from or if they are aliens they just know that they attack Russia first.

The resistance campaign was quite sizable, I played few many times with me and my brother and any friends that came over to show off my new PS3. I plan on doing the same thing today to show how much development on the PS3 has grown in such a short time.

... most of the game will be on "rails". Ride the Brumak, Ride in the Grind Rails, er, lifts; and riding on the Derricks.

The actual playing area will be a lot smaller versus the background moving around you.

Stalker Clear Sky for the PC is still better than both Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2, with better graphics, resoultions, controls and more content who wouldn't want to play Stalker Clear Sky.

Also, you can plug in your PC to a HDTV if you really wanted to and there is wireless keyboards, mouses etc so you can relax on the sofa and play HD games the way they were meant to be played.
