- PES09 -Superb. This is the sweet spot. If a game scores in this zone then it's definitely worth your money. What do you want, blood. Its still the daddy of footie games, if they do too much to it they will ruin it, or worst still make it like fifa , god forbid.

It's the same as how they use to say NFL 2k was better than Madden, or NBA 2k better than NBA Live.

True, FIFA 08 was a bad year of slow clunky ball, FIFA 09 is better. I've played both.

but PES is the poor mans version of soccer games. It doesn't even have real rosters, and it's just overdone fast arcade play.

I also think that magazines and reviews are often paid off when it comes to these kind of games. Like some sites, I could of sworn would not get off how great FIFA 08 was, when I knew it was an off year for FIFA.

Trust me, I've been playing FIFA since the PS2 days. Me and my friends know what's a quality match of soccer and FIFA 08 was crap.

The truth is, that when it comes to sports games, like it or not EA is the way to go. If nothing esle, they make the best sports games. Other companies can make some really poor sh*t.

I dont have to trust you , i've played my share too , and i dont think you've played both this year , like i did , and i dont see how EA is the best ...
They simply are just the only one in a few areas .
And everywhere they got concurrence they were slaughtered , in game quality . At the very least it still holds true when it comes to football .

And many videos show you authentic rosters for a few teams in PES 09 ...

how the fu** can you say fifa is more realistic and a better football game, true football fans are the ones that can look past the lack of rosters or graphics and enjoy the game for its GAMEPLAY, fifa is nothing but smoke and mirrors, sure graphics are nice for the first 10 mins but after that it is plainly clear for all to see that it isnt a football game.

Fifa2009...

I have played footie games since the snes days hehe and I have tried Fifa and PES series...

My brother he is a Football maniac unlike me which I just play the games...My brother knows about football and plays football manager games and takes it seriously, everyday he would check from all nations footballers news ect(now thats hardcore)

anyways with my knowledge on football games and my brothers maniac knowledge lol I can say that Fifa hasn't came close to the gameplay aspects of PES series as of yet...and I have played the new demo of Fifa, as have my brother and we find it has improve alot but still it feels loose and not as good of a gameplay to PES yet, even you can tell how different the gameplay is between Fifa2009 & PES2008(yes 2008 not 2009)...

Now I havn't played PES2009 yet but I'm sure the great gameplay which makes this title stands out will still be there and I'm sure it be a great game.

Fifa has improve alot but not so much so that it can beat PES in the gameplay area...

Maybe I'm just talking rubbish but thats just what I have played over the years (with my brother) and experienced both titles.

ok anyways can't wait for PES :D

btw people...you guys have a choice get whichever title you prefer, no point flaming which one is better!

ive played all the pro evos since 2005 and at least won the master leauge without loosing a single match on top player i love the game and think its much better then fifa for master leauge on its own its so fun.

It is the best football game yet. Fifa only care about graphics nothing else,I tried Fifa 2008 and it was a big disappointing especially with a complicated menu.

Playing since snes day too. PES rules. Hands down. Sure you can say fIFA is getting better and better year after year. However, it seems that FIFA can't beat the whole boring issue it has had since it's gone 3d. not to mention the whole full kit editor that PES has to offer.

I got both FIFA08 and PES08. With PES08, I felt playing a PS2 game on my PS3. I liked FIFA09 demo. I can get both this year, since I play PES09 demo before.

this is a spanish magazine, in that country(all of europe for that matter...) they are all about PES, it could be the worse soccer game of all times and it would still get this score, hold your judgements on both games for the time being, because im sure if you checked last year review of PES on this magazine, it woukd have a great score, even tough the game was complete garbage

Everyone that says PES is the game that has always been the game that cares about a great FOOTBALL experience and FIFA has been all about licenses and graphics, you are correct.

HOWEVER, being a strong PES fan myself, this trend has changed completely.

PES since PES 6 has been slowly regressing and FIFA has been making huge improvements since FIFA 08.

After playing the full game of FIFA 09 and the full PES 09 demo, it's safe to say that FIFA has hit the sweet spot of combining great gameplay with good graphics. IMO, PES has lagged behind once again in the next generation football battle, as it is evident that pes 2009 is merely a bandage job on pes 2008.

That's just my objective opinion.
