50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is Dead, Dead, Dead

Remember 50 Cent II, the sequel to discography-cum-video game 50-Cent: Bulletproof? The game that Sierra named 50-Cent: Blood on the Sand? The one that has a love-interest, slick graphics and tons of blood?

Yeah, it's dead. Caught in the unflinching cogs of big video game business, mergers, and close downs, we hear. Victim of a flooded genre and a potential publisher with one too many shooters on its hands.

Update from Kotaku: "We Got it Wrong, Wrong, Wrong: Turns out that our internal sources were slightly confused and despite our best efforts we got it wrong. While I'm still waiting for some sort of official word from the companies involved, this is what we've heard: While 50-Cent: Blood on the Sand was indeed jettisoned by Activision, the project isn't dead. In fact we're told that it is approaching gold and that a deal, perhaps with THQ as publisher, is in the wings."

i hate to spoil the party/great news but another topic is coming up that says the game has not been canceled,it is still in production.

the game will probly suck as much as bullet proof but bcuz he is 50 cent it will sell a decent amount and he will keep laughing straight to the bank!!!

4 - considering that i'm up this morning

getting ready to head into work and work on the "gem" that is 50 Cent 2, i can safely, and confidently say that the game is not dead.

now, i can't say the game will NOT be killed off, and god knows i pray it does (there are only so many signs of the apocalypse we need in the world these days), but for now, it's still going forward, and we're working hard to finish it asap.

the gamer in me wants to rejoice at the thought of it being canceled, but the guy that has to provide for himself and his fiance would be bummed if it was, because that means no money. and no money means no bills being paid, and no games being bought.

if i was a contributor, i'd not approve this story for being false (me working overtime for the past 3 weeks and this weekend on 50 Cent 2 should be proof enough that it's not dead YET). it may very well be true, but why fan the flames of rumor and speculation?

i would, but i'm under NDA.

i will say that if this game is canceled, it would be a mercy kill.

not even UE3 could save this game (the graphics, oddly enough, are pretty good, but that's what UE3 does these days; disguise mediocre games under shiny visuals)

anyway, why the hell would i boast about being on a game like 50 Cent 2?

hell, if i wanted to lie, i'd be like "OMFG, i work for Guerrilla Games, and Killzone 2 iz da amazing GOTY!!!"

i hang my head in shame that i'm involved with 50 Cent in ANY capacity. before they moved me to 50, i was on the Chronicles of Riddick game. it's better than 50, but not by much.

and that's all i think i can say about them both (and i've probably already said too much > insert dramatic music here <).

Edit - to Colbert, i'm not a dev, i'm a tester, thank god. i wouldn't want to be known as "one of those guys who brought 50 Cent 2 into the world."

my primary gig is developing cartoons. me and the guys have already pitched some stuff to Cartoon Network, which they seemed to really love, so hopefully there'll be more on that front in the future.

as much as i love gaming, and wouldn't mind trying my hand at game design, my artwork and storytelling are my main focuses career wise. QA testing is just a means to an end (that end being eating and paying bills while i work on developing my shows).

Riddick is still looking for a publisher. the team is still here testing it, and i can walk over and talk to them (Ghostbusters is also still on the floor, and is, honestly, the best-looking game on the floor at the moment).

since i'm not on the Riddick team anymore, i can't say for certain.

i shouldn't say this, but a little birdie told me that 50 has a publisher now. i'll only say that this POTENTIAL publisher has a name that begins with "T" again, this is only hearsay from the guys here, nothing concrete, and they are only possibly interested in publishing the title. no contracts have been signed or anything from what i hear.

thanks to those that believed me before. i wouldn't willingly spread false information in an attempt to look "cool," on a gaming forum. hell, i'm a gamer, that's automatic off the chart geek points anyway. any attempts to discuss gaming and look "cool" are futile, really.

I'm a fan of 50, but I wasn't really looking forward to the game as I was of the music. The last game had tons of new music, if it is still in development I am happy. Others probably wouldn't agree but I would most likely buy it.
