I think more people will got to play this game if it's available on BD! it's a great addition to ToD and eventhough just 4 hours long, still worth every penny for $15! highly recommended!

15bucks for 4 hour game is a bargain for me comparing to some 60 usd 8 hour games. And R&C looks sweet, plays great, it's fun like hell and has nice story. I would say they're ripping themself selling it so cheap ;]

5 - I think it's fine either way.
I wouldn't release it on blu-ray. R&C:ToD was a great game, but it didn't sell all that well. It's much more expensive to print BDs and ship them to the stores than to just offer it as DLC. At $14.99, it just doesn't make sense. A BR release of a $15 game may even turn a lot of people off. If I didn't know anything about R&C series and saw a PS3 game that was priced $15, I'd just assume it's a really $hytty game, like anything else that's labeled as a bargain bin price.

Just for your information, Ratchet & Clank : Tools Of Destruction belongs to the first games available in platinum, with Resistance : Fall Of Man, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted : Drake's Fortune, MotorStorm, Assassin's Creed and soon Burnout Paradise, Army Of Two and Fifa Street 3, meaning it's one of the first game that sold enough to be platinum.

Each of those games is now at 25-30 €/$ and games like Unreal Tournament III, Fifa / PES 08, Burnout Paradise, etc... are available at 20-30 $/€. Price does not mean quality, and when John Doe will see a 20 $/€ game for his kid, he will be much more interested than with a 70 $/€ game.

here's a problem though : it's not yet a greatest hits(north american standard, just like uncharted)

edit: for a game to be greatest hit, it has to at leat sell 500 000 copies and be available for 11month (that is for 1st party standard) games like assasin's creed which according to the standard would become a gh in october is not obliged to follow the same because it's a 3rd party game. and platinum hits and greatest hits don't have the same standards. but yeah R&C: ToD sold well to be gh and ph.

The problem I'm finding with downloadable content is what happens to it once you're done playing it?

I can't trade in PJM or Elefunk. I can trade in MGS4 though.

From the industry's point of view, downloadable games are brilliant because they can't be traded. From a customer's point of view, they suck.

I want to play Siren, but I'd rather have it on Blu-Ray so that I can trade it once I'm done.

Why would you ever trade in MGS4?

I guess you just have to decide if you really want the game enough to pay for it and own it forever.

Either that or find a friend who has bought the DLC, and get them to log in to your account so you can take advatage of the 5 PS3 download limit!! :)

But you are spot on with your assessment - DLC has some many advantages for the publisher... No costs for packagaing/producing discs; no 2nd hand sales eating in to their profits and so on.

I can't say I blame them, but for us consumers I suppose the only bright side is that with each game purchased brand new it's a little more money that can be invested in future projects...

8 - All this talk is funny...
Considering that the game is already retailing here in Iceland. I´ve got a copy in the end of August, the 28th to be specific.

I'll attatch a photo later when i´m not at work.
