i have to laugh, i remember when the first videos appeared of the game, people said, man thats gonna get tired quick. and they put a twist to add variety to the game, they made a werehog for fighting ala devil may cry and vertical platforming like mario, and now people say the game will suck because of that. most people were just pessimistic ever since the game was announced. what more can be fixed? the camera has been fixed, the controls, the speed has been fixed, the story involved no more animal human romance. the game has open world gameplay, the story with the stages and mini games with other characters. that seems pretty good to me. all of that with the new features like side scrolling to 3d, and moving sideways without losing speed is great.

I think this one looks pretty good! Even with the monster part, it's on my list to look out for. I don't know about the new Wii Sonic game with the swords, but I need to rent it and try.
