1 - this is quite the article...
im somewhat new to N4G but i did hear that last year this site was full of articles bashing the PS3 / Sony, and lately alot has been directed at the 360, but this article? a complete waste of my time.

Home? Nothing like bashing a game that isn't even released yet. jeez...

Haze... yeah, can kind of understand that, but never knew there was alot of "hype" around it.

Lair. I figured a game about dragons was gonna be bad, and the sixaxis is terrible with this game, but christ this game came out what? 2 years ago? give it a rest.

2.40 update a disappointment? im almost positive everyone has enjoyed the update.

this article should not get approved. and i should not have wasted my time leaving a comment. lol oh well.

This article was written by Tommy_Cronin - he usually writes opinion pieces and things like this. Most are very pro sony, and some can be anti - well not even Sony, just developers that messed up. Secondly, why would we be 'biased' about the PS3? Honestly - the only thing I own is PLAYSTATION 3 and a Wii (which I got for free). I hate Nintendo. That's just me. This is talking about disappointments in gaming, we are a PS3-centric website and thus, we talk about PS3 disappointments. Please tell me Home wasn't a disappointment, delay after delay. HAZE was hyped up to be a GOTY candidate...were you living under a rock? Also, 2.40 never brought everything we wanted (in-game music in all games - not 5, in-game voice etc.) but that's not a valid reason - the more valid reason is 2.40 is a broken firmware and causes headsets to go ape-crap and Sony still hasn't acknowledged it.

Please, tell me again that I am anti-Sony and I'll take you through a tour of my god damn house to show you that I am a PLAYSTATION Fanboy...I wouldn't write for this site if it was biased, it truly isn't.

Barking about the 2.4 update. It was a huge update so there were bound to be bugs. I don't give Sony credit for the bugs, but I give them credit for trying to get the PS3 up to date with in game XMB. Yes there were bugs and those that suffered said bugs were not appreciative. Those that did suffer are having their PS3's replaced. Those that read around on the net like me waited for the updated firmware that fixed this glitch are appreciative. At least Sony owned up to the facts and took action to fix it right away rather than denying it. The exact opposite of the 360 RROD problem for the first year and a half. MS figured the problem would fix itself over time, but it prevailed nonetheless. They now have an extended warranty program in place, but it's still a superficial measure. They should have designed the internal architecture of the 360 better so that these problems shouldn't have been around in the first place. The PS3 was delayed heavily it's true, but it has not had the same problems Microsoft has faced in what's going on 3 years in this current generation now. Of course, I do not mean to hate on Microsoft. I have an original generation 360 that has yet to fail. But since I have a fan blowing on my 360 to dissipate heat, mine should not theoretically fail. I have over a thousand hours on it and it works as good as the day I got it. Just a personal perspective here.

2 - In regards to my Ps3, my most recent gaming diappointment has
been MGS4 (Extended Cut-Scenes, etc.) and on the Xbox360 Video Gaming Console it would have to be GTA4 (after the intial few plays the "Magic" of it wore off)

Only a gamer would know that you have the ability to skip those cut scenes. So I guess you aren't one? The question isn't in regards to the consoles, but to how much you play games and if you get easily affiliated to a games features and options. It's an honest question, really.

As Killjoy pointed out those who actually played the game know you can just skip the cut scenes if tragically you were born with the attention span of a house cat.

Thank you for confirming this. It doesn't take more than two to people to figure out blindness of this epic, absent-minded fanboy.

+Bubbles, closing.

EDIT: @ Negative Creep
Don't you mean Xbox 360 biased?
Just correcting simple flaw but you're absolutely right.

2.4 - This article is totally PS3-Biased B.S.
Biggest gaming disappoints article with only PS3 related material.

What about Too Human? Huh??? That game is already out, is PROVEN to be a disappointment and was supposed to come out what like 10 years ago! and this author has a freaking cow over Home getting delayed over just a few months! (which in case he doesn't know can't even be legitimately labeled as a disappointment yet).

Totally Biased! Anyone who doesn't see that is an idiot!

2.5 - You two
Killjoy and Closing, obviously don't know something about gameing, because if you did, you would know that most people like the story in the game, so they won't skip the cutscenes. A real gamer would also know that most people don't have more than 2 hours or so to spend on a game at any given time, so if most of that is spent watching a cutscene, and not playing the game, I could understand getting a little peeved.

Not everyone has 10 hours straight to play a game, and if I'm playing a game, I want to be playing, but I also don't want to just skip over the story. Try to be more opened minded next time, instead of insulting people out right.

About the article: All I have to say is that if this were an anti-Xbox blog post, the comments would all be praising the article.

4 - I almost agree entirely
Home delays are beyond laughable at this point.
Haze was a mediocre game that did not deliver on any level. I have lost respect for Free Radical because of it.
I disagree completely on Lair though. The game was very fun, the story well executed, and the presentation and production values were through the roof. It was very clear that the majority of gamers were not very happy with a "forced" control scheme. In my opinion this was the only reason the game was received so poorly.
Firmware 2.40 worked flawlessly for me, but it is a valid criticism overall. Apart from in-game XMB, the rest of the features were not delivered. Custom soundtracks across all games being the one that hurts the most. Any firmware that bricks your console is going to take some heat.

I will not get started on disappointing games, GTA IV takes the cake.

So far this generation hasn't really done anything groundbreaking. It has just been able to give us many solid games.

I think we should all know by now that none of us expected Haze to be good.

When the last delay was made I knew the game would suck.

too many to mention. I will say the most recent one being yet another issue of Qore without delivering the content they said would be in it. First Socom then it was Resistance 2 and now its the Motorstorm 2 demo. It seems like the best part of each issue you have to wait months for.

I know my 1 complaint isnt game specific but Qore is a part of my gaming.

I don't know really about this generation so far, but for me the biggest disappointment was MGS3. And I don't mean the camera or controls. I mean the scene where you overlook the base where the Shagohod is being built and the camera sweeps over the entire base and I don't know about anyone else, but I thought, "Holy Sh1t! All that jungle stuff was just a prelude to the base infiltration!" I figured that the game would then revert back to something like the original MGS and instead you just run across the base. That was a dissapointment.

On topic: This article seems kind of half-assed.

12.1 - Hmmm...
I'd say roughly 85% of MGS3 was jungle related. Additionally, you would of have known that you would get to a base sometime considering nuclear weapons were part of the game. You know people ALWAYS safeguard their nuclear weapons out in the middle of nowhere.

I guess people misunderstood what I was going for. I know that there waas eventually going to be a base where the nuclear weapons were held. What I'm saying is a disappointment is that once you get to the base, you no longer have to infiltrate.

no console is perfect there will always be disappointments in the gaming industry, as long as sony and microsoft and nintendo battle for the best console, they will try too much and then they cant deliver it.
