I think many have moved on from TOB and when I thought that this is over, now this? whatever...I don't care anymore! Valve developed it and EA ported it! that's it and any game with this much problem, is simply unacceptable to begin with! It's not like I'm buying anything from valve but I got TOB as a present last year from my GF and she asked me whether I like it or not! what can I say? I just told her that it's fun but buggy making it less enjoyable and she felt guilty for giving it to me!

What's so funny mate, i'd love to share that moment of laugh with you. Very recently, Valve admitted the PS3 success. I see no reason why this would be a fake. Actually, to be honest, i see STEAM being developed to the PS3 platform. The PS3 start was catastrophic, but finally it is showing that it is the future. And developers, such as Valve for example, have finally realized that.

This really wouldn't be all that surprising. I mean take into account the PS3 sales figures, its doing quite well, and then take into account the issues with "The Orange Box" for the PS3 from EA(?)

The problems with "The Orange Box" have really left Valve without much recourse. No one can really step up and fix the issues due to the way it was done.

Say what you will about Gabe, but I get the distinct impression that he takes great pride in his work as he should. So seeing his company's IP look bad is just not sitting well with him. I think that if PS3 sales weren't what they are, then he would be more willing to sweep it under the carpet. The fact of the matter is that he, and any game dev for that matter, likes to see the product of their hard work succeed on as big a scale as possible. In this case the entire world. Especially since the PS3 is doing well everywhere and its success is not mainly in NA. Yeah, I know the 360 is doing well in various regions as well, but when you can damn near double your market penetration, you really need to go after it.

It can no longer be denied. Sure developers love to make a game for a 20 million install base (360), but with another 15 million install base (PS3), it's a clear decision to maximize profits.

Now if we go back into time when the PS3 was only at 3-5 million install base, that's where we saw developers like Gabe saying "The PS3 is a waste of time"

This is terrible logic. Let them admit their mistakes and fix them. Its not like Valve slept with your girlfriend or punched your dog. I refused to support the EA developed crap they shoveled out previously but if they put in proper research on PS3 then good for them. Let bygones be bygones, and I will support it. A boycott or hope for failure when a company is trying to correct their mistakes is just plain counterproductive.

EDIT: Something else I should add. If and when Valve actually makes games for the PS3, and they end up kicking ass, and when they decide "hey, the PS3 cell wasn't that hard to develop for after all, we actually enjoy working with it and can do a ton of things WITH it", it would be a pleasure to hear the 360 fanboys go "OMG, THEY BETRAYED US!!"

If for nothing else, to watch them squirm and get fired up while we laugh at THEM for a change.

And by the way, I did send my blog at http://www.n4g.com/up/28515... to Gabe Newell (copy and pasted the whole thing into the email). I wonder if he actually took the time to read it. Doubt it, but I got an ego, so....

Valid assesment on your behalf. Still theres a way to do things, its called BUSINESS ETHICS. Valve has been WAAAY too candid about their dislike for the PS3. Not wanting to develope for it is one thing, they have that right, but to call it useless and a waste of time is going to damn far.

They are not looking to correct anything if they are indeed plan on making anthing for the PS3. What they are looking to do is cash in on the growing success of the PS3 and I Personally want have a hand in that. I stand behind my comment- Screw Valve!!!

This is a more positive thing for Sony and the PS3 gamers. Sure they've said their crap, but if you look back in 2006. 90% of the media was saying crap about the PS3 too. Then look at today, you see plenty of articles praising the PS3.

More developers and publishers jumping onto the PS3 is just good business as well as good for the gamers.

and got shafted by Valve and Gabe. Many PS3 owners are out 60 bucks for a broken game. To make matters worse, he is unapologetic about the obvious mishandling of his own IP. He's statements and his additude toward Half-life/TF2 fans on the PS3 is unprofessional.

It is one thing for Gabe to dislike the PS3 design or Sony, but it's another thing to punish the PS3 owners for it. There was no way EA's second-hand dev team could have made a decent port of Orange Box. This is obvious even in theory.
