We have yet to see a native 1080p game on the 360. And... hmmm... that's not what i'd call an unbiased source lol.

I guess that the famous 1080p update just unlocked the Ana upscaler chip. MS is very good when it comes to unlocking functions that are already in its hardware or sofware. If the 360 was really able to output 1080p natively, why would a patch be needed ? Makes no sense. It can or it cannot. It's a matter of hardware, not software.

Achira you are stupid. The 360 has 1080p NATIVE output once again.

In addition to that, it can upscale 720p to 1080p if the source isn't 1080p. The PS3 CAN'T do that.

Now there you have it. The 360 is more powerfull in outputting any format then the PS3, which sticks or to 1080p and has problems with the other formats. If you have a 720p HDTV and you play BluRay you know what you get? 480p. NICE

Sonic & Blue Dragon are 1080p NATIVE.

Furthermore, who says VF5 won't be 1080p for 360?

Best thing is: Virtua Tennis on 720p on the 360 looks better then the same game in 1080p on the PS3. It has better lightning, better colours, like in all multiplatform games (remember COD3?)

Most fun thing is: Virtua Tennis 3 on the 360 has online gaming, the PS3 has NOTHING online

I'm just asking... not trying to start a war here. I'm just not buying your "360 more powerful in outputting" statement. Where's the HDMI love for games? I'm pretty darn sure that if I get a TV with HDMI inputs a 1080p signal is going to run through it. I can't be sure of that with component. Or can I? Now I do believe there is a Westinghouse model (LCD?) that states it can run 1080p over component but I'm not certain on that.

All this is pointless though if there are no native 1080p games to play. That goes for both systems.

May be my bad, but i've never seen reliable sources stating Sonic and Blue Dragon are in native 1080p. If you could give me some, it'd be cool.

That said, once again (and MS quietly avoided that question in the IGN interview) the fact that it goes through VGA or component screws it up. Most of 1080p able TV's can't take 1080p via those cables.

And once again, why would they have to make a patch to enable a 1080p NATIVE support ?
That's a complete non sense. The ability to output a 1080p flux is just a matter of hardware. You don't magically create hardware with a patch, that's stupid.

And so good for upscaling yeah. Better keep 720p, because upscaling screws the quality soooo badly. Just as deinterlacing does. Playing with pixels comes at a cost.

I'm not saying that the 360 is better or worse than the PS3, but the 360 can handle 1080p native just fine. Props to Sony for trying so hard, but MS is doing just as well if not better. Grow up and give. Good gaming is good gaming, regardless of system. I have a Samsung 67" TRUE 1080p (1920x1080) HDTV and have run calibrations on it using both the "VGA" and "COMPONENT" cables. The 360 will upscale anything that "IS NOT" 1080p up to "1080p". This is "AN ADVANTAGE" !!

H O W E V E R ......

If the source material is indeed a TRUE 1080p (ie HD-DVD or a 1080p game)it will output a "NATIVE" 1080p over VGA for "GAMES" and "MOVIES". Yeah, that is right "NATIVE" not "UPSCALLED" as so many of the blind faith Sony t!t suckers wish to believe.

IN the case of "MOVIES" .. the component cable is capable of doing the 1080p (if you TV accepts 1080p over component as mine does), HOWEVER .. due to LAWS and RESTRICTIONS, the 360 will only output at 1080i for movies over component ... BUT ... it will output movies and games at NATIVE 1080p over VGA and 1080p games at a NATIVE 1080p over BOTH cables.

I have rented one of the 1080p games for the 360 "SONIC" (even though some folks think 1080p 360 games do not exist ... pull your head from your asses) ... and "IT IS A NATVIE 1080p SIGNAL". My calibrator has VERIFIED THIS !!

So I am very happy you like the PS3 and REFUSE to even give the 360 a second look .. BUT PLEASE .... stop talking bullsh!t just because your 15 year old brain keep telling you to.

LONG STORY SHOT ...

XBOX 360 "DOES FUKN INDEED DO NATIVE 1080p (1920x1080)"

Don't believe me, well my $5000 TV and my calibration guy falls higher on the "INFO" source then you CHILDREN !! The proof is in the pudding, and the proof is sitting in my living room. LIKE IT OR NOT .... 360 is a NATIVE 1080p machine.

You do not need a HDMI cable to get 1080p. Spend half as much time over on the AVS forums (when adults hang out ) as I do and you would know this. HDMI is more to push copyright protection, so the men with the stock options want to control what your copy, they can.

Its simple, turn your xbox 360 on, go to settings,display,HDTV Settings, and you will see that you dont have the choice to select 1080p, you just have 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i.

And I belive the only time the xbox 360 uses 1080p (maybe) is whne playing a movie (HD DVD movie) not games (yet, maybe in the future)

Virtua tennis on 720p better then PS3 on 1080p was on a gameshow. A guy went to headquarters of Sega in France (Paris if I am right) and played both.

The 360 version looked just as sharp as the PS3 version but the main thing was: had better lightning and colours. Best thing was, the 360 version got great online options, the PS3 had NONE. Just like almost any other cross platform game, the 360 has the best version as well as graphics as online features

Listen... originally, as you posted, the 360's firmware/software would not allow 1080p. With the latest patch, which I believe was on 11/06, the 360 is able to do 1080p native.

Regarding Sonic and Blue Dragon in 1080p, I find it kind of odd that none of the mainstream sites (like GameSpot, IGN, 1UP) mentions the 1080p support in their reviews, news or editorial, while MS themselves claim they are both 720p games:

Akira...if you had a PS3...you'd be enjoying it. I certainly LOVE my PS3. Apart from Guitar Hero...i haven't used my ps2 since i got it. I think we're all agreed that the PS2 has the best games ever created... GOW, DMC, MGS, FF, RE:4, VJ, Okami, KH, MK, GTA, and MANY MORE!!!

Really though...mart...i thought all you guys said Blue Dragon was gonna be "AMAZING"!!! Turns out...it kinda sucks. According to gametrailers and G4, it's FFVI with better graphics...

I know...doesn't make MUCH sense...but you get the idea.

Oh...and...the multiplatform games will look better on whatever system they were designed for first...with the exception of RE4 and Halo. The reason those videos made the PS3 version look SO MUCH WORSE was that the brightness is up too high (by default). If you decrease the brightness...it looks almost IDENTICAL...try it if you don't believe me!

Saying the GAMES do native 1080p and the SYSTEM ITSELF are two TOTALLY different things. Had they said the 360 NATIVELY plays 1080p for games...then...you'd have my attention. It wasn't built well enough to "destroy the PS3" like you all want it to. MS got the thing out there as crappy as they could get it...and knew you guys would buy BRAND NEW HD GAMES...because it was the only HD console on the market...they knew they could upgrade later...

Sony didn't have a choice this time around. They HAD to release the PS3 this soon. It could have been the BEST LAUNCH of the millenium...but frickin' MS forced Sony and Nintendo to release early...even though Nintendo was ready for it...because...let's face it...the wii is on-par with the xbox (referring to new Metroid video). It's not hard to make a really small ex-box. <hey...i think i'll call it that...and remind you all of how MS abandoned its fans...
