No FFXIII 360 In Japan : It's Official

Kotaku.com writes "It's been confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will not be released for Xbox 360 in Japan.

That's according to an article in Dengeki PlayStation magazine, as translated by Kotaku.

Game director Motomu Toriyama is quoted as saying, "There will absolutely not be an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII for Japan," which is hard to misinterpret."

I think that It's a smart move to keep FFXIII exclusive in Japan. with the money that it would cost to make it for 360 over there compared to how many people actually OWN a 360 over there. It's a smart move imo.

13 was never 100% exclusive. SE complained about PS3 back in Winter '07, and pretty much hinted at multi-plat. The trialers never had the word "exclusive" in them. It was "for PS3" since the beginning, but eventually, it was also "for 360."

With that in mind, I believe SE. Also, do you really believe that they would lie about this, then say "actually yes, FFXIII on 360 in Japan." It doesn't really seem logical.

I'm talking about Japan.The TOV bundle sold straight away,the game sold pretty well even if it was only in the 1st week.

Doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that which system will sell more copies in japan of FF13. Do the math 2 million + ps3 owners in japan versus 600 thousand + 360 owners in japan which one makes more sense to sell more in japan? Also u can almost bet there will be tons of FF13 ps3 bundles selling well in japan aswell. Square is smart. Where the 360 will have an impact will be other regions so it makes alot of sense.

god is it so hard to see that the japanese have a big loyalty to their brands? until microsoft has an EXCLUSIVE in japan final fantasy, dragon quest or monster hunter, THEY'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
i'm not saying it's a good business move by square-enix, imo more platforms is better for business but if ff13 comes out on the 360 at the same time or after it's not gonna make any difference.
They looked at the market and saw that sony and nintendo dominate the japanese market. it's a fact. ffs they're even gonna release a ps3 bundle with ff: ac and the ff13 demo. ur telling me that's not gonna skyrocket?

Most people that has a X360 In Japan already have a PS3 anyways, so even if they make the X360 version, it wouldn't matter. The number of copies sold will be the same, and effort wasted in publishing the game.

I think if you look at it, it will hurt microsoft more when tales of vespiria or what ever it was called was relased in japan the japanese went crazy for the game boosting the sales of the 360. With no FF13 on the 360 over there well the PS3 will pick up the slack and pick up the sale in systems.
