Yeah I agree with everything except Home (cus I don't care about it), backward compatibility (cus I don't use it) and more mmo's (cus, barf).
On a sidenote, I also don't think psn needs to change a lot, I rather like it the way it is now, but then again I don't really interact with others while multiplaying besides getting pwnd so I can't say. The most important point is the final one, stop caring about casual gamers!

I actually like PSN the way it is now. I can access everything quickly and in a myriad of ways.

I wish the movie download section had preview trailers for every movie instead of just a few.

5 - i have to do this but... check me out.
dont get me wrong this article has great points but it kinda contradicts its self on one of them here take a look...

"Sony needs to make the PSN community more “friendly” by either making headsets that are available at a reasonable price (weather it be bluetooth or wired) or just make gamers want to hook up their headsets and talk with other players. I know most people won’t like this but they can take some tips from Xbox Live."

basically what this paragraph is saying that it would be better and more "user friendly" if sony were to include a free head set with every ps3 or make them alot cheaper were even the very poor people can afford them so EVERYONE can talk. now check this out....

"Clean Up The Live Experience: Microsoft needs to do something to deal with all the racist nonsense and just overall foolishness that is a small majority of the Xbox Live Community. Their “report” system sucks and the rep really does nothing."

well... XBlive is so nasty and raciest because MS supplied EVERYONE with a free flimsy head set so EVERYONE gets the right to talk and speak there mind ya know. thats why XBlive is theway it is. now if sony were to include a free cheesy headset in every ps3 i garentee AnalogueHype would be asking sony and PSN to stop being racist and prejudice because EVERYONE would be speaking theor mind ya feel me. so all in all im glad sony didnt give EVERYONE the right to talk cause nowadays most people are assholes XD no offense but even the little kids are racist and nasty. thats why the majority of PSN is mostly adults cause you have to pay 20$-100$ for a headset.

but good non-biased article nonetheless : )

What he is trying to say is that the reporting system needs fixing, so that these people can be banned or silenced when on live. And if Sony do include a headset then they must also include a decent reporting system.

LOL I know I kind of contradicted myself their but wiked basically cleared up what I was trying to say but posted I do agree with you that the headsets do make it easier for the idiots to act like idiots online thats why the reporting system should be better. Thanks for the comments though

i appreciate that rice : ) + bubbles to you too man god bless.

@ wicked- but they said that PSN can take some tips from XBlive meaning that sony should have included a free headset so everyone can talk and then they say that XBlive is too raciest with a broken report system, why should sony take note of that? the free headset is why it is sooo raciest and prejudice and then if you do make a good report system you gave them that right to speak in the first place, so now your gunna take their freedom of speech away? i think its an unfair punishment to do that and XBlive is the way it is cause including a free headset was a bad idea in the first place so i dont think PSN could take tips from XBlive in that category ya know, although it could take a "few" other tips from it ya feel me and vice versa. : )

edit: @ EX THE GOD- yea man i here ya, just something i wanted to point out cause i was board lol, good article though, i appreciate you being unbiased and all, n4g needs more articles like these, (even though "i" get biased at times lol) but yea man good article i enjoyed reading it : ) 10/10

CHECK THIS OUT.- if anything MS will be contradicting THEMSELVES by giving everyone the right to speak and THEN taking away that privilege with a good report system because they are an American company that has the freedom of speech. it doesn't make sense to me lol. they believe in the freedom of speech- they give everyone the right to speak-then they take it away cause people are saying what they want lol! freedom of speech! and they put this on themselves btw. : P

I really like that everyone on Live has a mic. It is way more fun being able to communicate and work as a team with strangers. It really does feel like a community. I couldn't imagine playing with my friends without a mic. It wouldn't be fun. Also I have played Live for awhile now and Yes there are some racists but not as many as people think. I do think Microsoft needs to upgrade the reporting system and they should be able to take away their speech if people on live are being racists and ignorant asses. So I do think Sony should have cheap headsets for people to buy.

EDIT: Everyone that made a live account agreed to the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use which gives Microsoft the right to remove peoples voice communication ability and/or suspend their accounts if they are being racists. They just need a better reporting system.

To add to posted up.. I dont know if it was Sony's reasons why they didnt add headsets but the way i see it, since every xbox console will contain headsets the more likely you will have childish comments by people of all ages, mostly teenagers and sometimes little kids. But since headsets didnt come manditory with all ps3's, people with money would take the time and buy a bluetooth headset or w.e. But who are these people, People with jobs, mature adults but at the same time willing to have fun. Therefore creating a more civilized and stable online enviroemnt. So this blocks out the stupid and racial comments made by psn's brother from a different mother(xbl). Sorry if some parts did not make sense but its like 1 in teh night and im hella tired.

Free speech does not mean you can say anything, anywhere. XBL is a private entity owned by the MS corporation. They have the right to restrict you from access. Lets say your friend came over to your house and brought another person with him. This person starts calling your mother/sister/girlfriend/wife a dumb c*nt. Do you not ask him to leave(at the very least)? When you were in school could you just swear in class? "Mr. Math teacher, I don't understand this algebra sh!t".
Freedom of speech means that you can vocally criticize the government, or any establishment, without fear of going to jail. A good example is in France. Bridgette Bardot, a famous actress from the early '60s(?), wrote a book that was not to flattering to the Muslim religion. She was brought up on charges and had to go to court to defend herself.
Well that's all we have time for today. You better hurry... your next class starts in 5 min.

On topic: I don't agree with everything in the article, but it is refreshing to see a reasonable point of view in this console war quagmire.......... (giggidy giggidy)

I respectfully disagree. MS doesn't include a free headset in console bundles, which means that people are going out and buying these headsets (which come in a 12month live subscription for example). So why don't Sony start making cheaper headsets available? Because of racist comments? I think the priority is to get a decent reporting system (MS's is hopeless) which will be the foundations for a 'friendlier' online experience.

Nice article

Sorry, my good man, but the 360 Pro and Elite both come with headsets, and have since they launched. But the Core/Arcade edition does not.

um, no, u forget that 360 headsets are wired, and they connect to the control, the PS3 uses bluetooth, which is more expensive, you cant give away free bluetooth, it would have made the PS3 a little more expensive, Sony knows what they are doing.

Really? Well when I bought my console (Pro) at launch it didn't come with one. I live in Aus, so that might explain it? Weird. Thanks for the heads up.

So anyway, even if it is a wired headset it's better than nothing? Sony should give them away for free, then you have the option of going wireless if you so desire.

what are you talking about? Sony clueless?? when it's clearly that they are doing the things right? you already have too many XBOX dream on you head! look, every generation of PS consoles had us seen the gamble and innovations on Sony's part as they pushed new technologies in their consoles compared to the competitions! if not, we should have seen PS1 using cartrige, PS2 using CD and PS3 using DVD9! it's true PS3 is currently 3rd but you didn't just forgetting about the infamous 1 year headstart by 360, right?

PS3 is doing just fine and Sony know what they are doing, hence they have so many internal studios working on exclusives for PS3! exclusives are what building a console! you can't say madden or assassins creed or CoD4 had built the credibility of 360! it was Halo, Gears, ME and other exclusives that did! that's why even the HUGE GTAIV didn't sell systems despite selling a little under 10 million copies between both! Halo3 and MGS4 sold more 360 and PS3 than GTAIV did for both consoles combined!

Bluray adaption is slow outside gaming you say? like I said before, take off that fanboy glass for a moment and try looking at the world through your bare eyes! Bluray is being adapted faster than DVD during VHS time and HDTV adaption helps a lot! that's why BD was not included in the article because it is indeed the better decision!

Pretty good article...reminds us that no consoles are perfect, no matter how much the fanboys like to pretend they are.

There's always room for improvement.

Now, if both MS and Sony would read that list and actually follow some of its suggestions...

reasonable article, but i have an issue

Sony have went on record many times saying how they are working very hard on Home and how they are taking so long to get it right

they have made several great presentations about Home and are working their hardest to make it available for everyone thise year- so why keep complaining about it?

on a side note: just 5 complaints regarding the Xbox 360 is not nearly enough in my opinion

Microsoft really need to iron out the embarassments regarding hardware issues- RROD is still at large and the console still scratches disks and still sounds like a jet taking off

These delays have really annoyed me. The PS3 being delayed here in Europe and in other PAL regions was bad enough, but one of the games that got me to buy the PS3, Tekken 6, which was first shown(in teaser form, but so was MGS4) at E3 2005, has still not been released on PS3(it has been in arcades, but only in arcades). Unlike the other major game in this position, Killzone 2, there has been nearly no news on the PS3 version recently(not counting all those rumours of a 360 version), the last thing I read about the game was an article about the North American release of the arcade version. If anything, this has caused me to just lose my enthusiasm for the game.

Ex God props to you on this article, this is probably the most unbiased article I've seen on this site since I joined, I really wish they would post more articles here like this.

@Postedup I agree with what your saying about the headsets but I also disagree for a different reason I'm sorry to say but it doesn't matter whether you get free head sets or not there will always be someone who hides behind a mic an blasts out raciest and obscene language online i don't care what network it s on (360 or PS3). No one is free n clear from this sort of thing they need to be more moderated i would never pay for online but if they are going to charge then they should put that money into this sort of thing, if they had better moderating then i could see a good reason to pay for online service.

@ heyheyhey yes they have said Home will be out several times though and every time it gets close to that date it gets another delay. Also i think MS has taken care or RROD. While yes some older consoles can still have it. The ones with the new chipsets and disk drives are less noisy and basically RROD proof.

@cereal...me too. I was actually suprised this didn't turn into a fanboy fest. I'm happy the way this turned out though and I will try and write more unbiased articles like this
