Anyway, I take a full wireless keyboard above both anyday, I just don't have did it 'till now because PS3 don't totally (rightly) support brazilian standard keyboards as of today (and don't want to buy one just for console and can't use it on PC, I'm just using my PC's wired one every now and than).

and even though it's basically an ugly block, it's served me well. I agree that most madcatz stuff is garbage, their thumbpad is probably their best product, and it's reasonably priced. The sony thumbpad looks, and probably fits, better, but if you can spare the usb port, and want to save a few bucks I think the madcatz one isn't that bad. There is also a game shark variant that is the same thing rebranded.

...I don't want a full keyboard on the coffee table. This item just seems so convenient for me for the gmail messaging, quick internet surfing/searches, and PSN messaging I do.

While the price seems a bit steep I think I will still purchase this on day one. I just need to purchase one more dual shock controller (2Ds/2Sax) when I get this item and get another bluetooth headset and I'm good to go for all my gaming as well as messaging needs.

I agree though, it's a pretty sleek add-on, just I would have liked the price to be $39.99. That sounds more reasonable.

Right now it's $5 less than a full controller.

Please try this, I did. Hold your PS3 controller like you normally do and see if your thumbs can reach above the top of the controller where the keypad would be. I have fairly small hands and found that I had no problem doing this without changing my hand position whatsoever. In fact I found reaching my thumbs up above the controller more comfortable than reaching down to the gap between my hands below the center of the controller. Try it for yourself!

I have pretty big hands and the small circular buttons would probably feel more problematic if placed at the top, than at the bottom. I actually prefer the "squishy" buttons that the 360 messenger has compared to the current-looking "clicky" buttons.

I'm guessing that they are actually more on the "squishy" side since there is a mode where the keyboard functions as a trackpad - which would be hard to pull off if they were too "clicky". I've always really liked the PS controller design so I think they know what they are doing in general, but I guess we'll just have to wait until we get a chance to use it to know for sure.

Also the price just doesn't feel right. The tech may warrant the price tag, but the functionality doesn't match the price. A bluetooth keyboard seems much more practical. Faster input/typing speed and much less awkward to use (as it would seem). A bluetooth keyboard is more expensive but you can use it with your computer and PS3 with better result.

my keyboard is great already.

but yeah, for that price i would rather spend it on a game or something else.

what i like about it is it includes a touchpad feature that acts as a mouse and the quick buttons for text or friend search.

I was thinking 39.99 but it isn't too out there. Comparing this item to the Logitech DiNovo Mini that I purchased, it is cheaper and more designed for the PS3(the Logitech was priced at 129.99 when purchased and didn't have basic buttons the PS3 needed to navigate). I returned the logitech because it's use didn't end up justifing the cost but this item will be a must purchase. I can't keep a keyboard always beside me in the entertainment room but the controllers are always laying around and this could be on the Player 1 controller.

I can't see anyone needing any more than one of these and I bet prices will come down by spring.

Sorry, but about £30 for a unnecessary keyboard peripheral that's just less than £20 for a retail price of a new PS3 game here in the UK...I don't think so.

With the fact that you can use a keyboard for the PS3 anyway and have a fantastic built in predictive text feature, is this really needed?

I'm thinking this is just for the 360 owners who are also moving onto buying a PS3 to complete the collection and to still have the same basic feature as they were used to with the 360 wireless keypad.

I'm afraid I'm not even touching this peripheral, as I just don't need it for my PS3.

many will see the need of this after Home comes out. I'll be getting it, I don't thikn it is expensive considering what it does and the tech it has like Bluetooth...here some info:

Go hold your Sixaxis/Dualshock 3 and move your thumbs to the position the keys would be, it doesn't feel that unnatural/difficult when I try it...

In fact to me the position under the sticks felt like it would be more awkward for horizontal movement of the thumbs.

You have a big ugly keyboard around taking up space. Unless your entertainment space is a cluttered mess of popcans, ashtrays, old bags of chips, dvd cases and crumbs...in which case, another nice big gadget might fit in splendidly.
