You aren't looking at this correctly at all. It isn't a patch to correct bugs. It is a patch to add a feature. A major, game feature. You really need to quit bellyaching and go read up on how game development works.

Killzone 2 ships 2/24 of 2009. Now back off that 3 weeks for production and shipping. You are at 2/03. Now back off that 2, probably 3 weeks for Sony's final QA. Now you are at 1/14. Look at everything else for the prior month as last minute minor bug hunting and polish. That puts them just before Christmas around the 10th because there will be some Holiday downtime. the game will be mostly complete at that stage. Major features have to be locked no more less than 3 months out. That sets them right around September 10th.

The game has to be over 85-90% complete at this point because programming and engineering have to tighten everything at this point so the bug hunting can begin and gameplay balancing can occur. They will have to adjust weapons capabilities, tweak AI, move AI, toughen them, weaken them whatever is necessary. Possibly shift level items here and there. At the same time MP game balancing is occurring. Also the sound - which is often behind, this includes the V/O - is still being engineered.

So if this decision was only made in the last month, you want Sony to jeopardize a 25 million dollar plus project because YOU think they should design, build, program and engineer a major game feature, and slam it into the game ready for testing in less than 2 months. A game feature that if not up to par with the rest of the game could be damning. Not very bright are you? In fact you probably owe Sony and everyone on this board an apology.

It's likely to be 90 days after launch before we see Coop implemented. It will depend on to what depth they are taking it. I thin the worse thing is you flipped out over an article that by your own admission you did not read. "Hey everybody, I am mad over something that well, I don't know anything about. But I'm still mad!" See how that sounds?

Quite amazing how people can see things in a good light when they are a believer. I don't see it as a reward. I see it as, "thanks for your 60 bucks for the unfinished game. I don't think that makes sense at all. The release is scheduled for Feb 2009. They want to release a patch right around release ? That's BS, IMO. The test cycle is exactly the same, they also have enough time to integrate it from the start. The only exception is, if they would have started pressing the BDs already - which I doubt - but, which could also mean, its already done, but it has been put on the shelf for the early 2009 release. In fact, that's the only explanation which makes sense. (I could imagine the game is already done, we see more KZ2 game play features then R2 - which is odd).

I agree, it doesn't make sense, but who cares. I think we can guarantee the patch will be free so its not like they're withholding something from the game to charge you extra for it ala M$. air1, dear oh, dear oh dear. You have been blinded by Microsoft for features the average (not 24 hour obsessive gamer) doesn't really need for an online service and will get built in anyway because everyone else has managed to give them free in the past.

Those features are free on PC and have been for years, I experienced them and loved UT2K4 and SoF2 online.
Imagine the shock that I had when Mr Microsoft wanted ME, of all people! To pay for playing online with my friends! FOR JUST 10 minutes on Halo3! Bugger that!

Why use up all that money for something that's going to left alone whilst I LIVE and gain education for a job? Why bother even wasting the time of that subscription?

I'm certainly not going to be spiritually attached to my 360 24/7 a year, I'm going to be doing other stuff whilst money goes to waste...

MEANWHILE If I desire, I can play on Warhawk or Resistance 2, surf the internet or crash into people on Burnout Paradise and run over people with Rocket launchers in GTAIV...for 10 minutes or up to a full day, FOR FREE!

MS have previously screwed me over like chucking the XBOX game support like a wet piece of toilet paper during 2006 and buying a console that just is a console and nothing more.

The price I paid for my PS3 justifies all of those future years of free online gaming and being to watch Blu-Ray movie and constantly being given new updates here and there whilst having everything in the box I needed for the PS3 right from the start I haven't bought ANY peripheral for my PS3 for a year due to the controllers already being able to charge (not poperated on batteries) and an in built Wi-Fi connection (Unlike paying £60 for a wireless adapter that just allows me to buy a host of average games off Marketplace, hidden among some gems)

I've totaled it up and after this year, my PS3 has indeed been cheaper to manage than my under used 360 and has served a much better experience and choice in games.

These are additions because the retail version of the game is completed, the game got delayed so Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 didn't cancel each other out and got enough sales each.

If not, its like the logic of putting out Halo 4 exactly the same time as Gears 2.

Guerrilla appeared to of wisely used that time to add in new free content for stuff that wasn't going to be in the game, because of the strategic publishing delay.

The game's graphics and physics are so great, they require a whole lot of space, causing some modes to be released as dlc. I think it's great that the game is so huge it requires extra space. i own both systems but the 360 is collecting dust right now. there's only GeoW2 to look forward to. besides that, it's all ps3 because the games are much more interesting.

playing on the ps3 is refreshing because of the variety in games - not only shoot shoot bang bang in 1st or 3rd person. there are still no games like Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet, Lair, Uncharted, Warhawk or MGS4 on the 360 - these are "true" next-gen console games. not that PC shooting stuff that's available for the xbox 360.

i will pimp my pc and sell my 360 after GeoW2.

xbox 360 is for pc gamers - ps3 for hardcore freaks. it will be like it has been with the ps2 - enough games for everyone.

Gears of War is a good game but there's nothing more for me. i like innovative, artistic and arcade-like games and the ps3 delivers all of that. i've never played games like ICO, Shadow OTC, Ratchet & Clank or God of War on a microsoft machine.

i don't want to tune my cars in forza 2 or pimp my character in mass effect and oblivion. i want fast action like God of War 3, Motorstorm 2 and Resistance 2 (i still think it's more fun than Gears online) plus innovative stuff like heavy rain, little big planet, flower, pixeljunk eden, folklore .. only to name a few.

i own both systems but i prefer the ps3 because it has more different types of games. you won't change that with metacritic scores, sorry! ;-)

btw. Too Human has a metacritic score of 7/10 but you say it f*****g kicks a$$. see what i mean?

'Live sucks trust me, I got duped into buying an 360 whilst working during the second term of Uni but I had the foresight to buy a PS3 three weeks later with the saved up wages as planned.

Economical crisis is going on around here in the UK too; no-ones going to buy a console that charges you for the tiniest online gaming session and lacks all the Hi-Def and free features of PS3 during this time, its a Wii or PS3 right now.

Well, not unless they're stupid or were absent when God was handing the brains out.
