Resident Evil is the only gaming franchise i've followed since it was born... and might i add, i know every little thing about the story line and character development... one thing im glad over is.. FREKIN FINALLY.. Chris as the main character! yes i knew this years ago but seing him during gameplay is just freakin awesome...

i can sit down and write down all the crazy changes i didn't like in RE5... (for example.. infected driving vehicles?) but everything has it's explenation in the story arc... so i'll leave it to capcom to explane that weird thing...

RE5 is coming along fine, and since i read that interview im a little releaved over the fact that this won't be a run and gun type of actiongame... RE4, was the best game, gameplay wise.. but the story wasn't that compelling interms of depth... i hope RE5 will change that... actually im pretty convinced it will.. since i know Chris and Sherry Birkin is in it.. then i know it will have a pretty deep story..

what i wish for is that we get to see a boss that is in the likes of William Birkin...(G)... that character design still hits me today as the first time i saw it..

interms of gameplay... i'd like to see some different animations from Chris.. i'd almost say it's Leon with a Chris skincostume... but they have another 8 months to correct that... and im eager to see the scary part the producer is talking about... since im a true Horror fan, i'd like to get scared shietless when playing RE5... :=)

im not sure about the new character in this game, i would love to see Claire and Chris team up ... but that won't happen..

and OMG.. when i saw the section where Chris is walking in the ship... and the rain pouring down.. SHIEET... wonder what waits in the cabin.. :P

anyways.. i LOVE the game so far.. and they have alot of extra time to polish it.. i hope it turns out like RE4... the best videogame made yet..

Now I have a question. In RE5, I remember Capcom saying it was a new virus or something, but isn't this new virus derived from Las Plagas?

The end of RE4 had Ada and Wesker obtaining the Plagas sample and escaping in order to give it to Umbrella. So I am assuming, along with the way the enemies look and act, that they will be just like Los Ganados.

I remember that and I also remember hearing that this game would get back into the umbrella story line... interesting. I still miss the T-virus though so I hope its back

I know this is going to be a great game and I'm really looking forward to it, but I feel all this is, is more Resident Evil 4 (which is a good thing), but I want a little more innovation. Co-op is great but show us more of the games innovativet features.

1.5 - missing the tvirus
BIG +1 there

it was cool that they showed that the RE series doesn't NEED "tvirus zombies" with RE4. that was awesome

but i'd enjoy the game way more if they went back to good old zombies whose heads did not yield giant centipedes etc. I long for the days of the "drone zombies" of yore :(

No offense, but I highly doubt Resident Evil 5 will actually be "scary" at any point in the game. At the most, there'll just be "oh crap there's a lot of enemies on screen how am I gonna shoot them all?" which is a fine feeling. But you won't experience fear as you might have felt in the previous silent hill games, or even in Siren. I consider Resident Evil an action/shooter game. Which isn't bad, but I don't think any survival horror enthusiast can really consider it a horror game. Even though it isn't like it's been raining horror games lately -_- The only good one that came this gen is Siren and Silent hill origins on the PSP/ps2

2.1 - RE4 had it's scary moments
I actually think RE4 was pretty scary at some points, like when first arriving to the village or fighting with Garridors (the steel clawed blind men). What I liked most about the enemies in RE4 was their intelligence and speed. I had high hopes in this regard for the RE5 enemies, but so far the african zombies don't seem more fierce than the ganados. Hope they have mobile big baddies in the main adventure like the ones in RE4's mercenaries. The crazy giant ganado with double edged chainsaw in the stage 4 in Mercenaries was especially freaky.

The old RE games scared me, especially Nemisis. GOD that was freaking scary when you heard "STARS"

This game can be really scary if they have the right mood and atmosphere.

If I had as much ammo as I had in RE4, I won't be scared. That was the scary thing about the older REs...you had to really survive and had to let some zombies live and run around them to conserve ammo. In 4 you could make it a ghost town from mowing down every monster you encountered and it wouldn't be scary anymore since you didnt have to worry about them anymore.

Resident Evil 4 was scary around the end. Those regenerators and Iron Maiden were creepy. Other than that, the game was freaking hilarious. Hearing those villagers scream in Spanish was the funniest thing I've seen.

If you want scary, play Silent Hill 2.

it can go like uncharted did, last part of uncharted was kinda freaky given that start of the game.

The dark hallways were really scary. I was really surprised by that part. They did a great job. There was no music and if you bumped into something, it made a loud noise.

God, I WISH a video game could give me nightmares. Silent Hill 2 affected me a lot, but I was only 12 when I first played it.

5.2 - The real life Chris Redfield
Does anyone else think that the Finnish javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki looks like Chris Redfield?

It's kinda hard to get scared when you have rocket launchers in your inventory but hopefully it'll be a great game.

That was one of the funniest Interviews I've ever read, they'd be talking seriously then the guy literally asked him if he believed in real zombies lol!

Back on topic: I hope its scarier then RE4 was, and since (according to the interview) they are focusing on many different environments (unlike RE4) maybe the end will be scary. Although how different (slash how scary) can environments get in Africa other than above ground/underground a la RE4. I wonder if this game will pull a mgs4 and not all take place in Africa...

12 - Resident Evil is scary?
If at any point a Resident Evil game was ever scary, I missed it.

They've never been scary unless you were an arachnophobic.

RE has really lost it's roots I really hope RE5 can meet all it's hype. Deadspace right now looks to be the better, scarier contender. Strategic dismemberment ftw!

15 - About Masachika Kawata...
I just wanted to say that whether this was translated or he was in fact speaking english... this was one of the nicer more animated interviews I've read in a long time. Very cool cat to make jokes like that, i loved the part about the workers not being able to be chained to the desks anymore.

RE5 is gonna be awesome!

16 - RE4 wasn't scary....
but it was the best game of last-gen. Bio-Zombies don't scare me. Demonic and supernatural stuff freaks me out - even some of the ghosts in Oblivion.

RE4 had incredible suspense and cool monsters - that's all I want for RE5.

Hopefully, it will bring in old-school elements...like what RE4 was going to be originally...

You know, the "hook" monster from the alpha stages of RE4?

Oh, here you go...

The alpha stage of RE4 looked much better than the final version we received, IMO. The final build of RE4 was still one of the best games of last gen, but it lacked the scariness of the previous games or even the footage we saw from that alpha version. Classic RE was focused on survival, which added an element of fear on its own. The new RE's are based too much on action, mostly due to the camera change.
