Niko Bellic May Not Play Role in GTA IV DLC

Ripten writes:

"At ComicCon '08 GameTrailers had the opportunity to catch up with the voice behind Niko Bellic, Michael Hollick. Geoff Keighly prefaced one of his questions by stating that Rockstar has been very tight-lipped about the upcoming DLC, adding that no one knows what to expect. Michael responded by saying 'neither do I' ...

The GTA IV DLC has been shrouded in ambiguity since its very announcement. It's been 4 months since the release of the game, and we haven't heard so much as a snippet of news regarding downloadable content. The trend continues, this time courtesy of Leipzig Games Convention where Microsoft said, 'In autumn there will be news from Liberty City,' followed by a mouthful of marketing mumbo jumbo."

1.2 - I think I figured it out!
While playing GTA 4, have you ever noticed how the game is too big for the story? There are alot of things that get overlooked due to the size and detail of the game.

My theory is that in the DLC, you will assume the role of an existing character, or a totally new character. Or, they could still possibly release a whole new world for the game, such as a modern day liberty city!

It would explain the larger HDD's!

In the past, GTA sequels basically used the core GTA 3 game, and just changed things up. No reason why they couldn't do this with a sequel and release it over XBL. But that is kind of a reach. I think it will be a different characters story!

So what this news is saying is that there is no news on whether Niko will be part of the DLC... which in turn isn't news.

9 - Doesn't mean No Niko.
Several things could take place.

1. They just re-use the lines already recorded.

2. It could be things he already recorded and didn't know it was for the DLC.
I'm sure Rockstar had a pretty good idea what the first batch of DLC would be and had him voice that stuff while he was in the studio.

3. They just get someone else to do it.
After the guy is an impressionist of sorts, who to say they don't get someone to impersonate him?
After the attitude he displayed the first go around why should they hire him back?

OMG..... i just hope your right. cause if you are... then that means san andreas is the DLC!!! if you dont believe me then go to the rockstar social club and check for yourself. click on the thing that is only accesible once youve passed the game and youll find a plane ticket that says MR. Niko Bellic To: San Andreas and a ton of other stuff. but clearly R* knew what they were doing from the start and i doubt just 20 more missions or w/e would take them 6 months to complete. this is gonna be something big people.

Only sony fanboys doesn't care about DLC, saying that this game sucks, i don't play this game since 10.000 BC, it's overrated, i don't care...omg i wonder how could it be if the DLC was PS3 exclusive: " GTAIV RULEZ, THE BEST GTA EVER, I CAN'T WAIT" hahaha

I'm agree with Chris, Hollick probably cant talk about the DLC, part of the hype and mistery marketing

It's sad that he was so underpaid though. If he was the voice actor for the lead role in an animation he would be paid like 10x more at least.

11.1 - Underpaid??
How do you figure that?
Hollick got paid $1,050 a day , 50% more than the standard Screen Actors Guild-negotiated rate for voice actors!
The guy sat around in a nice comfy air conditioned studio, while people fell all over him, bringing him milk and cookies and whatnot.

He signed a contract and was paid more than his usual rate. End of story.
Now because the game did well he wants more money?
If the game had flopped would he have giving the money back? I don't think so.
The guy should be happy he got what he got and be happy more people now know who he is.
I'm so sick of greedy actors, entertainers and sports figures and their egos.

Think about this while your at it.
The more these so called "Entertainers" are paid the more your gonna pay for whatever they do.
I for one think $60.00 is a lot for a video game (especially for some of the crap that has come out lately) I don't really wanna pay any more than that.

And just for grins and giggles, watch the credits at the end of the game, you will see what a very, very small part he playrd in getting this game made.

Take all those names and X's it by (a minimum)hundred grand.
Easier still just X's it by the voice actors and you will see a ton of money spent on that alone.

Here is a great article on it.

He was told he was doing voice work for some game called "Frozen" when he signed his contract. The way the industry is set up now is shady. No other medium is handled this way and you can bet your azz it wont be like this for very long.

11.3 - 11.2 Welcome to show biz
If he wants to work in Hollywood, he better get use to that sort of thing real quick because that's how it is when you're a nobody.
AND if he keeps running his mouth he'll get black listed and stay a nobody.

in all actuality they probably got a new guy since the guy who did nikos voice sued rockstar wanting money so why would they use him again?
