SCE America Announces Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Bundle Featuring New 160GB PS3

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced plans to introduce a new 160GB PlayStation 3 (PS3) computer entertainment system in North America as part of the limited-edition Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3 system bundle. The increased storage size enables entertainment enthusiasts to store even more movies, television shows, and games downloaded from PlayStation Network, as well as more videos, music, and photos from their personal collection. Slated to launch in November for $499.99 (MSRP), the 160GB PS3 system will come bundled with the hit game, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a PlayStation Network voucher for Pain, and a DualShock 3 wireless controller. The previously announced 80GB PS3 system ($399.99 MSRP) has started shipping to retailers.

Another "limited edition" SKU eh, just like the MGS4 one which keeps getting restocked. Not very "limited edition" if you ask me, just a ploy to increase demand.

Also its kinda contriditing their 'one SKU on the market' idea too, they going to have 3 at the same time, from a total of about 7.

WHY DO YOU TALK? If my life was so miserable about something that means absolutely NOTHING to me (Because I dont own it) Then I would probably end it. Just throw in the towel and off myself. Now I am in no way telling you to do this, but if I was like you... I would.

This site split the open/gamer zone to stop BS like this in the gamer zone, but when comments make it through and we read them... how do they expect people not to get upset, call names or stoop to the pre-pubescent tactics of the trolls posting them.

You should have to enter your Live/PSN name in your account and you can only talk in to gamer zone if you have a legit ID. Otherwise you should be locked into the open zone.

I come to this site for news and all I see are idiots spamming flaming remarks. Makes me hate this site and get embarrassed to be a gamer. These are my peers.

You do make a very valid point. When it comes to Sony saying that multiple SKUs just confuse customers. They only said that because at that time that's the path that they were planning on taking.

@Drekken - I agree 100% with you statement about people using this site should have to have a valid PSN ID, Wii Tag, Or gamertag to comment in the gamerzone. I also think it should go one step further, and prevent you from commenting in threads that you don't have a valid tag/id for. This would also cut down on trolling.

Feel free to read whatevery you'd like but to comment in that section you should have to be validated.

Sorry but you fail sir. They're just trying to offer more so they can see more profits. Its a business and that's what they're trying to do.

Hell, its just like the automobile industry. Before this whole 'go green, eco-friendly' thing became mainstream and political, they weren't really giving a damn about small cars and gas mileage. It was about the next huge SUV or gas-guzzling Hummer H3.

So....point is, Sony's adapting to the environment of the market. If they have to offer more variety and different SKUs for more customers to buy in, then they will. Adaptation = Survival.

80gb MGS4 bundle (MGS4 is the best game that I've played in years!)

or

160gb Uncharted bundle (extra 80gigs plus it's my second favorite game on PS3 and was the best game that I played in years before MGS4 got to me!)

I'd like to think that almost every PS3 owner would treat themselves to both games.

I'd probably go with the 160gb Uncharted bundle and just pick up MGS4. I'm pretty sure Sony is thinking most gamers will pick up MGS4 as a second game no matter what bundle they throw out there.

But this is just a FLAWLESS VICTORY!! for gamers

Its about CHOICE!!!! Remember the MS e3 conference haha. Ps3 has great choice. Seriously who sells a limited edition game console sku without the game (HALO 3) that still limited a year later cough halo 3 cough cough.

If more than 1 sku is confusing to you than maybe mummy can buy it for you. Im all about them sony seeing what the consumer wants and we all know why ps2 bc is diminishing (due to big sells profits still)but seriously a ps2 is like 89 bucks at game stop for the slim used.

The PS3 base is only at 15 million and seeing as the PS2 had well over 130 million user base so the PS3 still has over 100million people who haven't bought one yet and this is for them.

There will be more upgrades like this as the years go by. Sony already stated this clearly last year and now we're seeing what they meant way back then.

I can tell you what gamers want... LOWER PRICES! Screw the 160gig...make the price of the system $350 heck make it $300. I know the 160 HDD are crazy cheap now but still...lower the overall price of the system and stop with the buy me gimmicks.

Honestly the only system that should be $499 is the MGS version with backwards compatibility. But that is just my opinion.

17 - They should have had the 80 gigs from the start

Most consumers who buy consoles really dont know whats the difference between the ps3 and the 360. When they see the 360 as $50 dollars less they would rather get a 360 despite the bargain you have with the ps3 with its $400 dollar price tag. I think that if they seen that you get a bigger harddrive with the ps3 more people would have paid an extra fifty for more harddrive for 60 more gigs of space.

Also,, I think its really messed up how people look at the $400 price tag and still get a 360 when you get so much more with a ps3. Im not saying the 360 is a bad console, but you do get more for what you pay for with a ps3. I dont need to list why because every xbox and sony fanboy knows what comes in the ps3.

Also,, the 360 looks cheaper on paper, thats why Sony needs to explain the differences between the 2 on the box. Its not like their is a small difference,, their is a huge difference. Consumers really need to be educated on why the ps3 is a tad more expensive, and also realize that the exclusive games from playstation are in a league of their own. 356 player online, GOW3, Twisted Metal, and Killzone 2 are a good enough reason to buy a ps3.
