From the article: "Alex St. John is, apparently, 'the guy who talked Microsoft into the console business in the first place', which is probably true, given how small a company Microsoft is, and how they can't afford any advisers other than 'Advice 4 U' employee, Alex St. John. Makes total sense.

You know what makes even more sense? Listening to this guy ramble on about what's "next" for the consoles…

It's an opinion piece. Personally I would say it seems a bit like the ravings of someone desperate to sell his product and developing selective blindness to the problems he will face. However, there have been many worse examples of journalism and more deluded opinion pieces.

This guy is a retard. There will be a PS4,5,6 and so on and same with 360. Why? Well for one technology is going to keep getting better and seeing as this is a industry driven by technology the console makers will want to keep up. Also they are gonna keep making consoles because they want to make money by putting their box in your living room. Yeah I know people will say Sony isn't making money on the PS3 sales right now but rest assured they will by the end of the generation. It makes me laugh the people seem to think that consoles are going to evolve into a more PC like platform or that PC gaming is going to make a comeback. Indeed PC gaming isn't dead but it's a shadow of what it used to be and it has stayed alive by adapting alot of people use PC's for MMO's now. Lets face it if you are a gamer and you are only PC you are missing some of the best games there are.

Also on the issue of downloads. I personally don't think they will take over anytime soon. Some may have read the article on N4G about how the US broadband speed is extremely slow. Well until that gets better and until Hard drives are cheap and stable enough to never have to worry about crashing and running out of room it won't happen. Microsoft can say it's the future all they want but it won't be for quite some time.

7.1 - if they are making games like heavey rain on ps3 with all of its "bottlenecks"
imagine what they will be pumping out once all devs get there heads around it and with additional ram its a good time to be a gamer
