Rock Band 2 Bundle on Xbox 360 Getting Delayed October Release?

Shacknews reports that while the Rock Band 2 game and individual instruments are set for an exclusive Xbox 360 release on September 14, it now appears that Harmonix's Special Edition bundle will not make it to stores until October 19, a full month later.

The official Rock Band store and retailer GameStop both list the bundle as shipping on October 19--the same day the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Wii versions are set to arrive.

The Special Edition bundle--which includes the microphone, drums, guitar and game disc--costs only $199.99, while the separate instruments and game add up to an MSRP of $249.96.

Many fans who were planning on enjoying the early release while saving money with the bundle are upset about the apparent delay.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the article, it is still a timed exclusive but, if you wish to get it during the exclusive period your forced to buy everything seperately and there for pay more.

Sneaky underhand tactics from Harmonix's if that is indeed the case.

Well sort of... Basically, you could just buy the game and use your current instruments, making it slightly less. But if you want to upgrade, your choices are either wait for the bundle, or buy the separate instruments. It's kinda nice to have the choice, but I do agree that it seems a bit underhanded.

At least you have the option to get it on the 360 before the PS3, and if this game follows the lead of the original, it'll be better there anyway (unfortunately, I never understood why they weren't created equal).

Has Microsoft Game Studios ran out of money already? How much money does it take to get a real timed exclusive?

MS don't pay for exclusives! 3rd parties release timed exclusives because they love MS and just wanna make Shane Kim happy. *chuckle*

no they do pay, developers dont make games then just release one version for fun then wait to release it on the other systems, no its being paid that stops all versions from releasing at once

Still timed to the people who already own Rock Band 1 and are only looking for the game and not any instruments.

Amazon has it listed this way, as well, so this is not just Gamestop being stupid, just in case someone tries to say this is a fake story.

This actually makes the whole issue about the month exclusive fairer towards the other consoles, in my opinion.

199$!!!! For the bundle??? Just get rock band 1 and then buy the disc for rock band 2.

I have been enjoying Rock Band for so long already, and Rock Band 2 will let me upload my downloadable content and music from rock band 1 into it!!!!!

RB2 will have improved instruments, however, which may be desirable for some. They might want to wait out the interim in order to get the new instruments (which include a much better drum kit, the ION premium drum set, and the bass guitar debut). I got to believe those that been wanting to get this game but haven't yet will want to wait for the new instruments to come out, thus this stuff will affect those people.

I thought the ION premium drum set was like 300$. And I didn't think the default instrument in the bundle were any better. Yeah, the ION set looks awesome, but the old drum kit still works great! It is even compatible with Guitar Hero 4.

How would the Rock Band 2 drums be compatible with Guitar Hero 4 drums? They are very different

thekingofMA - 496 days 11 hours ago
12.4 - some answers for you all
the RB2 bundle is more expensive because of some minor improvements, but mainly due to the instruments now being wireless (which adds $10 to each)

but the ION drum kit is completely different from the Rock Band one-it's really just a cool looking electronic set that is compatible with Rock Band, with the option to add cymbals to help you in RB, or to actually play the (electronic) drums-i believe the price was hovering close to $400 last time i checked

zo6 lover: although the two drum sets are different, they are compatible. i believe that the GH4 will automatically notice you are using the RB drums, and it will turn the 2 cymbals into one (that one cymbal replaces the 2, so it's not like you get a break from an entire note) im not sure exactly how it works, but i am just thankful i dont have to buy 2 fake drum sets!

This is so hilarious. So what did the 360 pay for exactly? Man they got ripped off. Anyways, I dont care about this game cause I play real drums and guitar,,, sorry that you guys are really that into this game to blow money on this game when you could buy a real instrument for that price. This game is too funny..

"IF they paid for it" you know as well as anyone else they paid for it. Also I'm sure ts in the contract that just the xbox disc gets released a month before the playstation one. Instruments come later.

They still get the game just not the bundle, I still don't understand how that benefits MS in anyway.
They play the game because its fun, but most are too lazy to learn a real instrument like guitar. I play both Guitar Hero and Guitar and both are very fun but Guitar Hero doesn't even hold a candle to the real thing

Delaystation well..

When did they first announce Killzone 2 at E3.. (Something like 3 years ago)

Hows Home coming along, (when was that announced, over a year ago.)

It is the delaystation.

I also should note that I do own both systems and am just dying to play Killzone 2, as well as Socom and Resistance 2.

BUT Sony is NOTORIOUS for announcing things way too early just to get people's hopes up. I hate it when they announce things that nobody will see for a few years.

As for HOME how many people on here have been going crazy WAITING for this to come out, and there is a god possibility nobody will see it this year. (Home isn't my cup of tea but to each his own, I'll see what its like and who knows might be awesome.)

Every console has it's own set of delays.
The PS3 shouldn't be singled out.
That's my point.

oh I agree both systems have titles that people want that seem to take forever to get to market.

Like the 2 I mentioned for Sony. Although I put 100% of the blame to Sony for announcing them WAYY to early.

And there is of course Alan Wake for the 360 that seems to be taking just as long as anything mentioned.

Its just that (back on topic) for those 360 owners who own Rock Band 1 and aren't looking to plop down another $200 it still is a timed exclusive.

And on the PS3 side if people own the 1st and aren't looking for new instruments will only have to wait the month and only have to buy the game.
