3 - Posted.... yesterday
The Virtua Fighter series has never been known as a multiplatform franchise for consoles. Outside of a forgettable port of Virtua Fighter 2 to the Sega Genesis, the series has always kept itself to one home at any given time. From its console debut on the Sega Saturn, the series made an all-too-brief cameo appearance during the Dreamcast's all-too-brief lifespan with Virtua Fighter 3tb before settling in on the PlayStation 2 for Virtua Fighter 4 and Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution.
So when Sega announced that it was bringing Virtua Fighter 5 to the PlayStation 3, many had assumed it would stay there. That changed today. Sega announced that it would be bringing the latest installment in its premiere fighting franchise to the Xbox 360 in late summer of next year. The PS3 edition of the game will still beat its new counterpart to retailers, as it is scheduled for a February 20 release in North America, and will be a launch release in Europe when Sony's system debuts there next March.
The game adds two characters to the series roster for a total of 17 fighters and brings back the ability to customize characters with new accessories. Virtua Fighter 5 is rated T for Teen. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of the PS3 version.

6 - well....let the comparisons begin....
This time we can compare a 360 game ported from a PS3. Will it be better, the same, inferior...time will tell. But rest assured it will spur more flame wars.

Well
PS3 get it first
360 get the best
"Kikizo can reveal that early code is running on 360 right now and that 360 owners will, apparently, benefit from the additions and refinements that will be made to the ‘Version C’ arcade revision, while the PS3 version will be based around the imminent Version B. "

This is just like the GTA series for the original xbox. Xbox would get an "upgraded" edition or whatever, but it was virtually the same game. Still, I'm sure the 360 version will have more characters and what not, but I'm also sure whatever extras that are added to that version will be available for download off of Sony's network. Still, it'll cost a few more dollars, but Sega won't care. They're making money regardless. My view is that this decision has less to do with the consule wars, and more to do with the crappy Sonic game they put out; just trying to make up the losses.

Timed release. That's great for PS3. I mean, come on guys (360 fans). I wish we had VF5 first. Oh well, they're probably taking the extra time to throw some online features, achievements, and getting rid of the ancient Japanese 'unlockable' giant crab for 360 version. Cause real American gamers don't play dat Japanese bullsh*t!!!! (unless you're a nerd or 13 year old Japanese school girl) ;)
Rock out with your c(beep)ck out. Hahaha

that was the dumbest comment i've seen yet.real gamers don't play japanese games.ninja gaiden is japanese.otogi is japanese.devil may cry, castlevania.your comment doesn't make sense.
virtua fighter won't be getting unlockable characters ff.unlike team ninja.sega/am2 likes to BALANCE its roster.they never needed to inflate how many you could play in vf.am2 doesn't see online being perfect to do head to head matchups.gamers who have played all the vfs don't like any lag inbetween moves.online has a way to go before lag free gaming.most likely vf.net.and maybe achievements.but sega is known to surprise sometimes.let's see what they do.
mart, stop posting crap about what version unless you got links to back it.

I have been known to consume a few drinks in the evening. However, I NEVER said, "real gamers don't play Japanese games.". If you read it again, you may understand the context that I took a cheap-shot at the 'Giant Enemy Crab'. Anyhow, whatev.

Well I know a big reason is the fact all Xbox games HAVE to support online play via Xbox Live. So you can bet VF will have online for the 360
