Activision: James Bond Fans Split Over First-Person Vs. Third-Person

First-person James Bond? Third-person James Bond? Which would you prefer for a James Bond video game?

James Bond fans were polled by Activision in advance of the development of the publisher's first game in the franchise, this fall's multi-platform "Quantum of Solace." And the survey showed that they were divided about what kind of game they wanted.

it seems to innovate a bit,switching from 1st to 3rd person looks fantastic

i dunno, the QTE system looks terribly impelmented and the third to 1st person doen't do anything for me... it looks annoying at times, but oh well, hopefully its a good game.

now i need to get my hands on FRWl...

Personally Id always take FPS over 3rd person. But I understand that not everyone has the same opinions, taking the MGS route and allowing for both is always nice.

Either way, I think Quantum of Solace is looking fantastic (especially for a movie tie-in) and as a fan of Bond and Ian Fleming I'm really looking forward to this one.

I like what they are doing with making it kinda a FPS/TPS hybrid type of thing......hopfully they dont f this up since Bond is my favorite movie franchise......and there hasnt been many good bond games....

7 - Goldeneye was overrated.
To be honest, the controls were horrible but I couldn't really expect more from the joke that was the 64 controller. The only games that worked well with that piece of sh1t were the Zelda titles.

Seriously, just make a crazy multiplayer heavy James Bond compilation game with like most of the characters and some serious gadgets. Like Nightfire but you know, good.

Goldeneye was actually more noted for it's fun 4 player splitscreen with friends.

Yeah the controls are horrid by today's standard. But a game for it's time was revolutionary.

The fact that so many ppl are still complacent about playing FPSs using analog sticks rather than a mouse/keyboard or Wii remote is even more horrid IMHO.

Perfect Dark, considered by many to be the true sequel to Goldeneye, is still one of my favorite games of all time. However, enough time has passed since its release for console FPSs to evolve into something more than just shinier textures and higher framerates.

8 - I dont understand
why developers cant make an option to switch between views and cut this whole third vs. first person thing out. Its like playing a racing game and asking which view you like better the overhead view or the hood view.

BTW multiplayer wise 007 Nightfire is the best bond made. Golden eye is just a classic but has nothing on Nightfire.

10 - If any one has read my previous post,, you will see that I think Quantum Solace and Cod 5 are in my opinon gonna be the best games coming out this year.
Im glad that its a fps. I requires you to be skillful, and precise with your aiming. Its using the COD 4 engine so you know every gun in the game will have different recoil and rates of fire. All you TPS guys just go play your Gears of War or your Resistance 2, cause honestly, Noone cares what you want out of this game. Its done already and now Treyarch is taking its time with ironing out the bugs and polishing the game to are beautiful shine.

Dont get me wrong though guys. This game really isnt innovative. It plays just like Rainbow Six Vegas, but thats not really a bad thing. I mean,, Ubisoft made a good game with that series, but there was alot of things that was missing in it that Quantum Solace will be sure to put in such as, Melee, good graphics, good level design, and best of all good online. Them were the things that Ubi forgot to put in that series that Treyarch will be sure to fix the tactical genre and set the standard of what an espionage game should be about.

Sorry guys, but as good as Metal Gear was, it doesn't count. That game was made for its one player action. The online was horrid and the controls were as fast as a slug. Syphron Filter was good, but again, the controls were slow and wouldn't make for a fluid online experiance. Ubi had it right with the gameplay, but now Treyarch is gonna watermark the gameplay just like Infinity Ward did with the COD series.

3rd person with 1st person option. Having both as integral components for various options is best.Depending on certain situations either 3rd or 1st will be called for....
