Virtua Fighter 5 b!tch slaps 360 in the chops!

Sega confirms the latest version of its VF series will now launch on Xbox 360, as well as PS3

Tecmo's Dead or Alive series is about to get some serious competition for the king of fighters' throne on Xbox 360 in the form of Virtua Fighter 5, previously a PS3 only title.

Hopefully, the fact that VF is spreading out on multiple platforms will give the DOA series a much needed kick up the arse. But Sega's legendary beat 'em up franchise has taken a few knocks of its own over the last few years. Maybe it's just that the genre as a whole has gone as far as it can?

sega is a neutral developer, so this was somewhat expected. Sonic came out for both consoles, so unless Sony gave them some incentives, why not release for both consoles? there's money to be made here.

Not necessarily. If you remember, last round sony received both versions of virtual fighter 4 for the ps2 while microsoft got nothing. So this is pretty significant for xbox owners like myself who want something other than a boob fest from their fighting games.

Well it certainly seems the only reason to get a PS3 is for the Sony developed games only! Im a big GT nut so i`ll get one just for that. Same way i have a 360 for games i can only get on that machine. Hopefully this will shut some of the more "vocal" PS3 fanboys on here, but the flipside is now the 360 fanboys will be all over this like a rash and the merry-go-round continues at pace!!!!

But I gotta say the title of the article definitely implies there is something more to this article with regards to a comparison, etc.

One more game that will no longer be PS3 exclusive. Now I will say it will be interesting to compare these two when they do come out because from what I understand the PS3 version was first in the que which would make this a PS3 to 360 port instead of the other way. The graphical and performance comparisons should be interesting.

Don't know if anyone has taken a look at the videos. I hope the gameplay is much deeper than punching and kicking and a few grabs in between. Looks great but seems to still play like a 2D fighter..

According to other sources the VF5’s arcade board, the Lindbergh, is actually based on the Intel Pentium 4 CPU, which would make for a relatively easy port to the Xbox 360.

That the Intel architecture of the Lindbergh board is actually what makes a port difficult -- not easy... Read up on the differences between the Intel and the simplified PowerPC architecture. Then read up on the differences between doing singlecore vs multicore games. Hopefully by then you will recognize how difficult a port is.

My best guess is that a X360 port will have more unmodified code in common with the PS3 version than the arcade version, with the PS3 and X360 both being on PowerPC CPUs.

All I need on my 360 now to complete the sweep of favorable games I've come to like playing on the PS is full support for FF series and DMC series. After that I probally won't be buying a PS3 untill it's I mean "DIRT CHEAP".

Not so much I hate PS3 , its just that the 360 is cheaper and is getting more support everyday and Xboxlive ofcourse.

With 10 million consoles to be sold, hey every one is "jumping in". So does that mean the 360 version gets ONLINE and the PS3 VF doesn't?

The PS3 version will not be online but every 360 game is online enabled regardless if it's multiplayer options or just score boards and Downlable content! Maybe this is why Team Ninja announced that DOA5 is in the works rather than Ninja Gaiden 2? Also Soul Caliber 3 was announced for 360 awhile back before the PS2 release and has me thinking that it will have online play! 360 is really getting some love and I brought a friend over this morning just to let him play Gears Of War and show him that there's life outside of Sony! I wish you guy's could of seen his face and reaction to the visuals and overall experience he had compared to what he had to say about the PS3! He was so negative about 360 until today and now with news like this it's really making the 360 look more and more appealing!

I really dont see what the big deal about VF is. Honestly think its a rubbish franchise. Tekken is most definitly the King of Fighters. Not even going to mention DOA cause its just a big pile of steaming horse sh1t. Now if Tekken came to the 360 I'd probably pass on the PS3. Come on Billy boy!!!!
