superfly, the only thing in common between mgo and socom is third person view. mgo online doesnt compare to this, socom is definitely one of the best shooters online. you have nothing to worry about.

People seem to keep amazing me on this site. Give me a break it looks worse than GRAW, if you people do not want to admit it then fine. But unfortunatley i have eyes and eyes do not lie regardless if fanboys do. If the graphics are so lacking the gameplay footage dont seem to be above and beyond so what is going to set this game apart from the top shooters now? Nothing far as i have read on it or seen on it.

Socom has never been about the mind blowing graphics. It is however all about great gameplay, good teamwork and very deep clan support, which in the end trumps the graphics.

Since the last socom there have been so many (super addictive) games of that type to come along. socom was one of the few good war games on the ps2, but now that has all changed and we have many more war games to choose from.

SOCOM is a HUGE franchise on the Playstation brand.

And if you see the graphics and think they're something wrong, well then that's a bad habit to be quite honest. The gameplay is what this is about. Also the clan support, did you know that every clan gets a webpage with forum on socom.com? That's just amazing imo :P

This game looks on par with most military shooters. Besides, you are not being specific about what you don't like about the game's graphics. There for I believe you are just making a judgement call based on nothing but BS. What do expect the graphics to look like? What is lacking about the visuals that has you so 'blah'? I've seen the game in motion and in screen shots. There is plenty of detail and effect that atleast keep it on par with COD4. So what is your problem?

Halo 3 looked like Halo 2.5, but the multiplayer was fun. You don't see people griping about uninspired charactor design or lack of any true post-processing filters.

Also it is worth noting that SOCOM Confrontation is just a filler between now and the release of SOCOM 4. Hence the lack of numerical numbering. Its like GT prologue except with damage :)

I can understand where you are coming from moses. I didn't think the graphics were great either, but Socom 2 is one of my most favorite games. I have never seen or been involved in teamwork like there was in Socom 2. It's unrivaled in just about any game I have played online. I don't even know how to explain it. It's just awesome. The only other online experience that has come close for me is Halo 2 online, but Socom still beat it. Socom had such a deep strategy to it. Oh I am so excited!

It's pretty apparent the game is kind of empty, not much in the screenshots, the architecture is blocky, and the textures are sub-par. There are many many games that look much better then this, but then again, as someone said, the Socom series was never about graphics, so I'll take your word on that one.

Ok, for the people that keep saying gameplay sets it apart, considering the game isnt out yet and alot of people have seemed to play it. Be more specific what parts of gameplay sets it apart? I mean it has destructible environments? Is there perks for different guys maybe like calling airstrikes and stuff like that? Or is it just 2 teams playing teamdeathmatch to eliminate each other.

but alot of people seem to wanted to play that game also. Ghost Recon 2 sucked for the Ps3, so I'm glad Sony is bringing Socom out. So to answer your question, yes people need to play Socom, cause Ghost recon 2 sucked as a online experience on the ps3!!!

the series has a high quality feel to the gameplay. you have to play the game to understand. it might look like graw, but they dont play the same. like how two sports cars drive the same until you get behind the wheel.
the game is all about team work and strategy. it takes generic tactical shooter concepts to another level. its the intangibles that make it so great. an overwhelmingly positive experience.

I Have played alot of tactical games in my day going back to Q2 Ctf having to control certain areas of maps and do tech management with teammates and such and alot of communication. Might not think as Q2 ctf being tactical and strategic but it was.

Socom is special to me because it was the first tatical shooting game I have played. I loved going through the missions telling my guys what to do and stuff. It's kinda like the Mario thing for some people. They remember playing it when it first came out so it is special to them.

Graphics have never been that important in these games. They might change that, but that isn't really it's forte. It is just supposed to be a fun game that is challenging, that also lets you choose what kind of weapons you want to go with, and giving you a tactical approach to it. Balls blazing shooting everyone with a machine gun, sniping out people, or more stealthy with knives and silenced pistols.

It may not seem like much compared to the other shooters, but it just has that place in my heart.

And can you really deny Tarsky wasn't being annoying?
