EA Will Produce Brett Favre 'Madden' Cover Featuring Jets Uniform, Updating Roster On Monday

"Quarterback Brett Favre will be available to play as a New York Jet on the day "Madden NFL '09" is released next week. We just got word from EA that the game will still ship with Favre on the cover in his old Green Bay Packers uniform, but the following updates will make him a Jet.

Fast work on EA's part, given that the Favre deal only made the news several hours ago.

I feel sorry for the developers who now have to release a game where the cover is already out of date.

They'll probably make a printable custom cover like they did a couple years ago. It'd be crazy to reprint all those and tag on the official hologram, etc. That would really add up.

why do people keep mentioning the stupid madden curse it doesn't happen to all the cover boys. vince young didn't get injured we he did but only for about a week and got into the start of the play offs failed to win but still i don't believe in the stupid curse.

Shouldn't be too hard for EA to get this done because lets face it none of the players look like the real life counterparts and all they really are is a number and name on a team.

That's the EA sports quality bar. Instead of raising it, they lower it.

Yea, that'd be a real efficient use of dev time there. Lets spend countless hours to get real time scans of every single nfl player's face and insert them into the game only to have them be completely covered up by the helmets and never seen during actual gameplay.

You'd really teach those ea guys a thing or two about raising the bar with bright ideas like that one.

I look forward to getting the one with him still wearing Green bay packers colors. It probably will make the game rare and be worth something one day.

I did read that they do not plan to re-issue packaging, but will offer a free downloadable. Now is that just for the first batch or are they going to continue making the game with the green bay uniform?

It doesn't really matter to me. I'm a new yorker, and life long jets fan. Would have loved to see pennington make a madden cover, but favre seems more like a hired gun than a true jet. the packers jersey seems more appropriate anyway. The only difference now I guess is I won't be the only person online who uses the jets.
