PS3 80GB MGS4 SKU sold out at Best Buy

Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle held a sold out status at Best Buy Co. Inc.'s online division on high demand for the product.
Bestbuy.com disclaimed a sold out status to online customers as of Wed. evening. The item is not available for in-store pickup.

The MGS4 PS3 80GB SKU includes a copy of the Metal Gear Solid 4 game and a Dualshock 3 controller for $499.99.

The product has held in the top three sales at Amazon.com on steady availability at the retailer.

Sony this month recorded a Q1 profit of $50.5 million (5.4 billion yen) profit in its game division compared to a loss of $273.3 million (29.2 billion yen) one year prior.

Sony has sold 14.4 million PS3 units worldwide to date.

The electronics giant will retail a new $399 PS3 80GB SKU this fall, representing a $100 price cut from the current 80GB model.

They got it wrong. It's not the same 80 gig due to lack of ps2 emulation, but they doubled the space of the 40. Keep pumping out those 80 gig bundles and you'll see it be sold out over and over and over again.

4 - Seems like even july will be a good month for the ps3 aswell since, MGS4 bundles..

Seem to be selling out everywhere they get restocks of this MGS4 bundle. I think alot of people underestimated just how much of an impact MGS4 is and is proving that it can move major units of hardware alone. Great job Kojima and staff on delivering a masterpiece. :)

5.1 - So it is good to show how well Halo or Gears selling well but...

Any game such as MGS4 or Resistance 2, or any other huge ps3 game is a bad thing now or fanboyish? I dont see whats bad about this. I think what is more worse is showing off VGChart sales because its quite obvious how off they are but do u guys still accept that? Yes u do so I dont see nuttin wrong with showing Fans of the MGS4 series, that MGS4 is still breaking news by selling out everywhere with the bundle packs.

How is this even news? "Limited edition item sells out!" Wow. Now that you mention it, I didn't see it the last time I was in WalMart, either.

And here's breaking news! They didn't have any Wii's or 360's either!

What could this mean??? Is console gaming doomed from a shortage of consoles???

If you want an 80gb MGS4 bundle go look on eBay. There are plenty available there.

They have plenty... but be prepared to get ripped off.

Your Best Bet (if available) is to try Target. That's where I was the first one to pick up the bundle on Launch day while across town (2 miles) there were 60 people lined up at a best buy that didn't open until 10am.

Target opens at 8 and they aren't an electronics store, so demand is lower since PS3 isn't the first thing that pops into peoples mind when they think "TARGET". When i got there the guy had to check to see if they were in stock because he hadn't even heard of the bundle.

They got in 8 bundles. I walked out with the first one and no one gave a damn.

I can see you're bothered by the PS3's sitting in the Best Buy where I live. You had to make sure everyone knew it was "online" only. Yes, I was informed that it is only online that they are sold out. I gotcha and apologize for my past comment, that is very true.

How the hell am I gonna constinatly use my friends Ps3 to prove I have one? When I get a message from one of you Dong bangers I always reply back with a quick message when I am logged on. Unless my friend lived in my living room I don't think that's possible.

well where i live i drove and called every where looking for one of these with no luck. then finally came across a best buy and they had 17. so he is probably right. i think best buy gets more shipped to them or something. because they were the only ones with the slim ps2 when i needed one too.

but then again at the best buy i was at. they were giving out tickets. and when u brought the tickets to the front they would get them out of the office behind customer service. and its pathetic how u counted them. lol. when i called they told me they had 17 left and they couldn't hold one for me.

Good move on Sony's part,keep bundleing these AAA titles and they'll close that 5 million gap in no time.

Little big planet would fly off the shelves with the PS2 and casual gamers buying into it.Even alot of 360 fanboys would be tempted by its creative bliss

GOW3,Killzone 2,Motor storm 2,Gran turismo 5 are all other ones they should bundle.FF13 in Japan for sure,Along with FFvs13 worldwide.

Well I work at Best Buy also part time. I can tell you these things just got shipped in. I say we have about 7-10 left, and that was on Monday. So there either gone or there are very few left over.
