yeah, there's a supposed limit and restrictions on how to implement the trophy system. it's really odd that it would be 48 instead of a solid 50.

yeah, i think it has to do with the amount of Bronze, Silver, Gold you can give out and so it's up to the devs on how you attain each one. so the total amount is really irrelevant.

I was almost done with Uncharted on crushing and i almost found everything. I won't mind playing it another 2 times to get a platinum trophy for Uncharted (my favorite game of this gen) but i really wish the trophies were retroactive. But oh well no use complaining there's people in hell that want ice water.

Nice question at the end of the article by the way. If that's what Uncharted 2 is about i'd preorder the game right now.

I dont think there is a set number of trophies a game can have.
But they all have to add up to the same score.

Meaning completing a game will always result in the same number of points. Of course a PSN game will not have the same number of points.

it's not how many trophies there are, rather how much experience the trophies are worth total. We don't know how much XP each trophy is worth though.

Yeah 4D I'd rather get trophies on the Uncharted,the most kick ass game ever,rather than getting a 1000 points on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Uncharted is a great game and trophies will be a fine addition.

but trophies and achievement points arent all that. they dont even do anything. you dont get anyhyiing out of them. unless sony makes it so i can cash them in for PSN games or any content then i couldnt care less about them. (my opinion)

@4D doesnt matter how many games have it or not,all 1st party exclusives coming up will have them.And that doesnt change the fact that yes,an RPG levling system is in fact better then pointless numbers.

@posted up,your your trophys will act as a sort of currency in HOME
to buy furniture,clothes,movie tickets,etc.

So it's not pointless at all.Also you'll be able to view them in 3D.

Achievements aren't all that because they are nothing more than bragging rights. Ego points. But Trophies matter because they are more than ego points as they translate directly into PSN buying power.

Like you seem to miss in my post that Achievement points have been used for winning prizes for over a year now. Granted, it's not so much a "currency" but you do win prizes for gamerscore and it's nothing new that Sony is doing.

For 3D trophies, you get a rotating picture of a cup? No thanks, I will take the unique avatars each individual achievement on the 360 gives(many give free gamerpics as well that you can show on your gamercard). I don't see how achievements in 2D or 3D make them any more useful? Once you get like 8-10 thousand achievement's we will see how eager you are to see them in 3D. I know it sounds all fresh to you but when it comes down to as many achievements as the 360 has you would need a trophy case the size of a city block to show them off and it's very unpractical.

yea man i feel you, i stopped getting defensive when people started hating on trophy's (like they just came out) , it didnt take XBL one day to get where it is now, it took time ya know.

people hate on the ps3 saying "oh it doesn't have this" and "oh it doesn't have that", well... it just came out ya know. give it time. its still in its first year.

I don't care what people say about achievements or trophies, but what does irritate me, is that people can't admit that trophies are a copy of achievements. Nor, does that bother me, it's business, and business makes both companies improve. Both achievements AND trophies are nice, and both have a purpose. For me achievements were nice, just because it gave me a reason to replay games. Before trophies came out, there was really no point to replay some games on the PS3.

But, I agree with Crab and Posted, I don't care who came out with it first, I just want BOTH companies to improve on it. Just like every other aspect of the consoles..
