But wouldn't this be really easy to test before they posted this article? Couldn't you just disconnect from PSN, change your system date and test this or did Kojima-san think of this already and you HAVE to be connected to PSN for the date lock to open?

I just hope its something major to add to the story like a movie about Snakes final hours... Hope its not another egg cooking lesson for Sunny or something haha.

So on Dec 12th, 6 months after the release of the game, something is supposed to be unlocked for the game? Like the final finale? I'm pretty sure Snake was told he had 6 months to live so maybe that has something to do with it? Article was a little confusing. Anyhow, if that's the case then that would be awesome.

I hope that this unlockable content will be for those who purchased and installed the game the day of release. It would just be stupid to release special bonus footage or whatever it is 6 months after release for those who picked up the game a month before this unlockable content. Either way it will be a great surprise!!! Woo Hoo, I'm guessing that Otacon will continue Naomi;s research and will have found a cure allowing snake to live so that there will be the next MGS!!!

On Dec 12th, we will see the final ending.

*cuts to scene*

Snake is sitting on a rocking chair, then he suddenly dies. "GAGH!!"
Otacon will turn to Snake and shout "Snake! SNAKE! SNAAAAAAKE!!"

*cuts to next scene*

Snake wakes up to bright blinding Heavenly lights.
"Did you RIKE it?!!"
An exclamation mark appears on top of Snake's head as he sees God... also known as... Hideo Kojima!!!

But it turns out Snake is actually David Hayter who woke up from a dream. Kojima then tells David to get ready as they go shoot the MGS movie!!! ^_^

when Ryan Payton said in an interview few weeks before the release of MGS4 that he's been busy working on a surprise for ppl who bough the game on launch?
If it ONLY occurs with the ppl who made the purchase and install on the 12th of June I'm gonna be pissed because I was on a trip around Europe those days.

Yeah I always wondered whether I missed hearing the "Voice of God" in MGS4.

Who knows, if this rumour is true then perhaps on December 12th we'll be treated to a video or something regarding Solid Snake's death. Again, who knows.

The only thing even remotely close to this that has been done was in MGS3 when you battle The End. Basically if you got tired of trying to find him and you turned off your PS2, when you went to play again the next time, The End had died waiting for you and so you didn't have to fight him.

i'm dumbfounded by this. i guess on dec. 12, every single copy of MGS4 is going to be humming in ps3s all over the world.
i don't see how this could possibly be true; but, if it is: kojima will have pulled off the biggest gaming trick ever.
the only reason i don't immediately discount this is due to his trick with fighting mantis in MGS1. that freaked me out.
